Have you ever stopped to help someone on the road??

If I see someone along side the road, and I have time to stop and offer help I will. I usually assess the situation before I get out though, just in case.

So it's about 11pm and I'm driving home, and I see a car on the side of the road with it's hazards on. It's at a pretty odd angle. As I see it I'm already turning off the road onto another street, but I decide to go back and see if they need help, it is thanksgiving day on a nearly deserted road at near midnight. I turn around, I see a wheel on the side walk. About 100 meters up front is the car.

I pull up next to the car, it's right side is sitting really low. I roll down the passenger window and and the lady rolls down her's. I ask, "Do you need some help??" She replies, "I have no idea what happened." I don't think she even got out of the car. I calmly say back to her, "It looks like your wheel fell off." She gives a blank stare. So I ask again, "Do you need some help putting a spare on??" "No, my boyfriend lives nearby but he's not answering his phone." "Are you sure??" "Yeah, I think I can get ahold of him." I try not to laugh, but she's pretty out of it. I bid her good night, and turned around hoping she didn't see me trying not to smile.

It was a newer Mazda 3. I think she just had snow tires put on or something because it just snowed here. She must have made it pretty far without a wheel, because it was really far away from her car. Even before that she must have felt the vibration of the loose wheel. I wonder how much damage she did... LOL...

I have robert, I often stop especially if its a female ( only because they are more vulnerable then men from predators and shit ) Once my family and I were on our way down the south coast, I see a teenager stopped with a flat tyre. I get out and ask him if he needs help changing it as I have a son the same age and would like somebody to do the same for my boy. He is really grateful as he has his final uni exams that morning and he forgot how his dad showed him to change the tyre. I get him on his way and he leaves safe and sound. He was stopped on a very busy highway.

I quite often stop for cyclists with flat tyres since I carry a bike pump and what have you in the car....

You have to be real carefull in deciding who to stop for. I have experienced the highs & lows. The worst was when a stranded motorist waved me down on a country road, I stopped but luckily I didn't get out of my car as the stranded motorist was either drunk or stoned (or both) & had run out of fuel & demanded I give him some of mine. When I said I didn't have any. he began kicking & hitting the side of my car as I sped away. :( :(
The most gratifying was a lady who had stopped on another country highway with an overheating engine & was on her way to visit her ill mother in hospital. I gave her a ride to the hospital in the next town & then she arranged for her husband to collect the car. A week later the husband delivered a box of beer to my house in appreciation. :) :)

I have stopped from time to time. Only when I have the time really. Mostly these days I don't, but the majority of the time when I did stop was when I was working security and had my uniform on. 2 part reasoning behind it 1) People trust me more, and 2) People don't fuck with you if they intended to.

Have helped many people. Especially a poor lady who's car was run off the road by 2 idiot hoons. Their skyline caught on fire and they had nothing to put it out with. Karma I say.
