JA manual lists the car as 1270kg, Late widey with the big diff and all the fruit is 1320kg, really other than the front and rear spoilers and the minimal extra metal in a widey where is the extra weight? there is only about 1kgm (if that) per front guard and i'd say 2-3kg per rear guard (including inner), the rest of the weight gain would be in extra soundproofing and wiring i'd say. oh and the extra couple of inches in the front A arm/z bar :)
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Dont forget the 54 donk is heavier than a 63 .I'm sure that there is a guru that will be able to come up with an exact number :)redzone wrote:JA manual lists the car as 1270kg, Late widey with the big diff and all the fruit is 1320kg, really other than the front and rear spoilers and the minimal extra metal in a widey where is the extra weight? there is only about 1kgm (if that) per front guard and i'd say 2-3kg per rear guard (including inner), the rest of the weight gain would be in extra soundproofing and wiring i'd say. oh and the extra couple of inches in the front A arm/z bar :)

Dave, I think the widey's weigh 1340kg...not sure...it's been a while, and I am getting (relatively) old. :D
Electrics, wiring, soundproofing, ABS etc all will add up and I am sure as Oldie says, the 54 would be heavier too.
Either way, for $1300-odd, I'm sure these coilovers )will be a great upgrade for any tired 22-28 year old Starion suspension that is crying out to be sent to the tip :D
Will be interesting to see how these fair on our roads.
Great work Pete in getting this going so quickly

I think it's going to depend on a lot of things. The roads you drive on, the way you drive, personal tolerance, wheel size and tyre profile, how you set up the suspension. Just by the numbers the fronts look a bit stiff but they are just numbers and driving on the will be the real test.
I'm also needing some bushes in the front end, front wheel bearings and the drag link redone (even though pedders said it was fine?)
What else should I do at the same time ?

Dont forget you can just order some 3kg springs to replace the 7's, and use the 5's in the front and 3's in the rear....

suitability of aforementioned springs also depends on how much of a f@t f#%k you happen to be

Can someone provide a link or a price on a set of ~ 3kg springs for the rear. I'm already copping out on the 8.7kg springs for the fronts
The eibach springs were firm enough and they were rated at 350lbs!!

JD,
As a starting point, go to Kings Springs web site, check out their range & find a distributor close to you.
Costs per pair will vary wildly between distributors; I found this place down here in Melbourne to be very good on price:
Suspension City
41 Provost Street
North Melbourne VIC 3051
