STARION D2 COILOVERS - GROUP BUY - A$1,220 landed
Guys,
It's time. I need the cash deposited ASAP. I'll send a PM to the 8 guys listed in the first post.
Remember in terms of legality of the items fitted to your car in your state I'm not sure of, so you'll have to check that at your end. There is also some modifications needed to the front struts and a reputable suspension shop will be able to help you out.
I am merely the group buy coordinator so you've heard the phrase "all care and no responsibility". If there is a problem with the parts warranty is with D2 not me.
****** COPY OF LAST EMAIL THEY SENT ME ******* RESPONSE IN BOLD ******
Hi Peter,
1. detailing exactly what is and isn't included in the kits eg camber plates, front & rears etc. I think the fronts need to be welded to our existing stub axles? Are there instructions for how to do this? CAMBER PLATES FRONT AND REAR. YES WILL NEED TO BE WELDED AND I HAVE THE INSTRUCTIONS TO DO SO
2. And some technical details eg adjustments, construction materials, spring rates (standard). ... Broken link ...?
From the website - they are made from SAE9254 and 6061 aluminium. They are a lot more solid looking than the Gen 1 sets.
3. Lead time once deposit has been paid ONCE I RECIEVE PAYMENT WILL BE AROUND 10-14 (working days)
4. Guarantee they are to suit 82 to 88 narrow and widebody starions? ABSOLUTELY, THEY ARE ALL THE SAME
Apparently these have the rear pillowball on them anyway, so they should be happy about that!
I can ask D2 for a discount on 8 of the same, but chances are ill get a no. Will ask anyway! I have given you my best price on the 5.

Re coil overs
TOMSUN
Do they have a gravel option i.e. Rally??
Never to be lowered from standard height. Maybe 1 inch (25mm) higher.
With a 50-53mm shaft and harder bump/rebound and spring rates??
Cheers Jason.

Re: Re coil overs
I couldn't see an application like that on their website... That sounds like you have something very specific in mind. Might be best if you talk to a local suspension shop one-on-one to get something that suits your application. Let us know how you go.starionc wrote:TOMSUN

Re coil overs
I do, a JA rally car.
You would think that D2 would be able to make a bigger insert for the struts and get heavier springs.
Is it worth asking them the question?
Every time I try to ask a question I get what looks like an answer to a question from some one else.

I'm curious how the front struts would differ from narrow to widebody??? I guess the area where welding is required would need to matched up to the original strut size/length.
Has anybody ever compared a narrowbody to widebody front strut and compared where the difference lies (exc the spindle angle)? In the shaft insert or in the strut body??
:? :? :?
I'm so close to being a part of this group buy.....the widebody suspension/geometry is miles apart from the 2L narrowbody!!!!
Quality and compliance issues hold me back!!

SK, I would still like to know who these coilovers are being bought from?
Mal,
These would fit both narrow and wide as they dont have the spindle on the bottom of the fronts - but they would need to be welded ontop of the stock spindle/shock after cutting it off about 50mm above the base of the strut.

First post updated.
This group buy is closed as there are 8 people on the "yes" list.
Note there might be enough "interested" to do a second group buy in the not too distant future so don't panic if you missed out.
If you are on the yes list hurry up and transfer the cash and we might just get them before Christmas :D
