Guys, I emailed the Australian distributor about the D2's and this is what he replied:
Hi Charles,

Thank you for the email. Unfortunately, we don't supply D2 anymore, but
just provide technical support to the remaining customers that we have sold
the products to.

This was due to quality concerns as we were having quite a lot of
complaints before. Also, the same product is also sold as a few other
different brand names.

Anyhow, we can manufacture couple of sets for you boys if you like as we
are selling a different brand of suspension called Standard aka. STD.
Please go to
www.evolution-r.com.au for further info. The quality surpasses
D2 anyday.

As long as you guys can provide me a set of used springs and shocks for
your car, I will be able to manufacture the suspension for you with
whatever spring rates you want. Price on offer is A$950 shipped with a
minimum order of 6sets and it will take up to 6-8 weeks to produce and
ship. Our RRP is A$1599 at the moment but we are looking at supporting
group buys and clubs to promote this product. It will be a one-off price
only.

For further info, please email to info@evolution-r.com.au

Thank you and regards,
Mao Gan/ Evolution R

Hi Guys

I have been in contact with K Sport Suspension
http://www.ksport.com.au/

I met the guy at Gold Coast Autosalon. He told me if we did an order of 5 he can match the price that D2 is offering which is $1200 AUD. If you guys are interested let me know and I can try and take it further to see what happens. If we did it this way, it would leave it open for a local good quality brand for starions. :beer

I had a feeling this would happen...

So what do we have so far...
- D2 (Have an existing working kit for starions re: USA group buy)
- STD (can make something... Need a set to experiment with?),
- K-Sport (can make something... ?),

Any others? Lots, BUT who HAS (not CAN) an option for the Starion?

Besides K-Sport are Chinese (Taiwan) same as D2's and STD.

Yes, interested.
I presume the spring ID is "standardish", like Kings 63mm??

i'm willing to stick with the D2 option, most companies baulk at the starion design once they find out what they're like, that or the just want to sell you a 4 way adjustablle shock with a threaded sleeve on your original leg..

i know D2 had a shit run in australia, but the yanks reckon they have improved their quality a lot and they seem to like them...

Yeah Dave, and I am sure that the K-sport and the D2's are the same product :D

Plus the D2 option allows fitment to both widies and flatties.

I agree with Dave, it would be easy to end up with alot less features for the same money and probably not alot more quality.

Maybe D2 have smartened up a little since what would be 3 to 5 yrs ago production unit's? The Taiwanese are well known to cyclers for good affordable quality. There's a guy in that US thread who's already driven about 10 000kms, he still seems happy with performance.

For that price with camber tops, I'm still interested in D2.

I hope to end up building a moderately powered JB with LSD, I will add some swaybars and use the car mostly for street but would like to attend the odd club track day for amateur fun, anyone with suggestions on spring rate?

I think these shocks aren't adjustable for rebound, so what spring rate are they designed to match?

If All the widebody guys in the USA have gone for the same rate, I figure it would be on the mildly stiff side for our narrow cars, which I could probably handle if we have no choice and get what they got.

D2 suspension with Rota rims :) the brand whores are going to love my car, it even makes me laugh :D 2.4L SOHC with 20g should shut them up

i think they only come with one spring rate dont they? any spring manufacturer can make new ones for them, kings can etc.
