PRICK OF A JOB Murphys law strikes again

Post by OLD FART »

All who know me know that I am as deaf as a post oops hearing impared for the politicly correct LOL and at odd times I had heard a bit of noise at odd times when I started up the JB but of course always stopped whenever I popped the bonnet /hood As you know Allan aka Avandul had a test drive recenly and said the altenator belt might be a bit loose as he had heard the noise.
So as the Oakey Sprints are a couple of weeks away it was time to tighten the belt BUT as the altenator stay now uses one of the water pump bolts as a fixing the bolt was as it turned out broken and had made a grove in the back of the custom ally WP pulley the broken thread was stuck in the block under the WP outlet/inlet ?? so I got a rt angle attachment for my drill as space was minimal BUT no good as I could not exert enough preasure on the HI TENSILE bolt bugger grrr wtf so it was out with the v8 = heavy radiator with twin thermo fans, IC pipes both sides and now had juuust enough room to get the drill in but had to apply preasure using a tyre lever then I tried screw /eazy outs but no go so ended by drilling a larger hole and installing a longer bolt from the back as it fits nicely and won't have to use 2 spanners to tighten it up
PS O'RILEYS LAW SAYS MURPHY WAS AN OPTIMIST LOL
I've had mine since 03 07 92

I've been a sparky for a while now and I always try to advoid anything on a friday as it always turns into the perferbial and then your stuffed.
My JA has perfect motor - FMIC - forgies - high flow head but...rusted front guards and keyed on every panel. Time to get serious or time to take it to the tip.
