I've got a VR4 crank in good nick, but you're across that big bit of water, so that makes it a little difficult.

yeah i must have misread it - i thought vr4 ones were the long nose and starion ones were the short nose. are vr4 ones and kb ones the same then? or do they have differences as well?

short nose has the short crank timing belt pulley, long nose has the one with the fat flat section in front of the belt area as derek said..

the long nose is the later type, although i've seen either in any model starion as so many motors have been switched over the years..

the one on the right is the late sohc type with the boss, the early girls dont have anything there, they're only the cogged part..

Very interesting...and good one Dave. I've only ever seen the type on the right - JB motors included. Okay, I've only played with one JB donk but I've got two more I haven't ever opened...
