My L200
My L200
Ok i said i had no money and would not buy anymore cars, and i honestly didn't expect to end up with this Seeing as i couldn't sell my motor on here, i decided to look on ebay about auctioning it off, and see what sort of money they were asking. Typing in 4g63 came up with this l200 that had a starion engine transplant. I knew they came with a 4g63 standard so i clicked on it as i thought i was kinda cool.
So the add read: starion turbo conversion, tc0620g turbo, haltech, e6k, recaro seats, stereo , amp , sub, momo steering wheel, engineered and registered (motor has bad blow by). So i sent the guy a message asking the reserve, and told him i had a starion engine in my garage that he could either buy, or if the reserve was cheap enough i might buy the whole car. So 1 bid and $1009 later i won
When i picked it up it had a cable clutch, so i knew it wasn't a starion motor and they had put a turbo on the original engine (narrow block)
Not to worry I started a second job last week going back to doing engine reco. I stripped the 4g64 head off my stazz motor, and am now rebuilding the original engine with forgies, arp rod bolts, no shafts and a cometic head gasket.
this is going to be my daily driver and i am just going to have this and the widey as my weekend toy.
I rekon it should go pretty hard if i can make 200rwkw.

Wow! Nice buy!! There are some great bargains out there at the moment!
I like it! And utes normally get a good resale price!
So I take it you are rebuilding the existing block on the ute and not transplanting the starion engine you had for sale in?
Didn't you have the starion gearbox on the engine as well?
Anyway a good buy! :)

I was going to convert it to hydraulic and run a stazz box, but i don't think there is enough room for the master cylinder on the firewall. Anyway i can stay narrow for now and run a supra box later, but it's only a daily anyway. First thing is to fit power steering, and get the a/c working. Apparently Sigma front ends bolt up hmmm a Ge Sigma ute

hey mate i could be a wide block starion motor and still have the clutch cable, thats how iv got my l200 set up, the gear box would be out of a 2.6 sigma witch is a wide block engine, they go very well, mines a 1971 flat tray l200 with a starion motor with wolf ecu, front mount intercooler, multi point injection and other suff lol, nice ute by the way

yeah u could drop in a starion wideblock by using a 2.6 sigma/scorpion jap box, iirc they're identical to L200 2wd boxes, and some of the L200's may have even had this box standard...
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Thanks boys, I pissed off the bodgy catch can setup and fitted a starion one, so it's not blowing oil all over the drivers side front wheel :glare:
Motor is coming out next weekend, so i will measure the bellhousing then and decide what way to go. The boys at work are trying hard to make me build a big motor for it. I think a set of forgies are going in regardless.
It came with a spare starion block and crank, 2 tco611a turbos (both shot)
a reco'd head and a split pulse exhaust manifold.
