WTB CAMS bucket seats

Post by muttis3lv6 »

Hi
Opps i have booked the car in for a 6 point roll cage bucket seats and 5 point belts and realised i don't have the seats or belts.

Help where is the best cheapest place to get this stuff from or do you have something second hand?

Don't skimp on on either of those items - buy the best you can, you will not regret it for a second. And god forbid if you were ever to be in a serious hit, you'll be very glad you bought top-quality safety gear.

IMO, a winged, HANS compatible seat is the only way to go. Willans seem to be about the best of harnesses, but any of the big brands are good. 5 or 6 point in the harness makes no difference, but I would avoid a 4 point.

Is this a serious track machine?

These guys aren't the cheapest around, but this is an entry-level winged seat....

I have a pair of Velo GP90 race seats in my Rally Staz. Very comfortable in a very rough environment. Easily accomodates a 5 or 6 point harness. Also they have a removable cover so that they can be easily cleaned.
Being Australian made (in Adelaide), can have covers that can be repaired or replaced. Most reputable motor sport suppliers carry them.

As Lummy says, don't skimp here.
Just go to a race suppliers shop and sit in every seat they've got, even the mega expensive ones.
Don't be put off if the seat feels too firm; when you're strapped in nice and tight it will give you the best support.
I've got a Cobra Suzuka and I like it a lot, it's not a winged one due to the fact I do tarmac rally's and need good side view.
There are some winged ones that have "viewing" holes in the wings, so that might be the way to go.
Good luck in your search.

Race seats

In the Starion you don't have a lot of room! I had to cut out part of the floor to get the drivers seat low enough.

That sounds bad, but I'll send you some pics if you like. (Why cant I up load pics?)
I have the Velo GP 90's in mine, they are perfect for me. And just make sure you get 3 inch belts!

PM me your email address and I'll send you some pics of my cage, seats and belts. And the floor mod!!

Re Seat

Post by starionc »

G'day Rhys I've emailed the pic's to you.
I had the same problem with the height of the seats. That is why the floor got the cut and shut job! And ditch the standard seat mounts, too tall!!!!

Cheers Jason
