As for the $3,500 GSR for sale, it would be a no contest. When I drive my starion that has cost me around $20,000 It feels like a new car, no rattles, smooth, powerful and reliable. A $3,500 car is not the sort of thing you are going to enjoy to the same extent as a well sorted unique road car.
i've driven micheal's GSR3 and i'd bet it drives as well or better than your JA.. it already has multipoint, suspension done and pretty much everything else that we know needs doing to these cars.. he's probably spent close to what you've spent on yours..
Dave... you read my mind... but I was bitting my tongue. :P
A cut and polish and nice(er) set of wheels and I think it would be a sensational street Staz all for less than than the money Greg for lose on selling or parting out the Track Staz...

And Greg if you did go the gsr3, micheal doesnt live far from the Brisbane airport so for the sake of a plane ticket it might be the way to go, any Brisbane member would be more than happy to take you there im sure.

Obviously you know the vehicle better than I do, I was simply stating that generally a $3,500 car is going to be a POS.I am basing this fact that I paid $7,000 for a starion that needed, re spraying, new front guards, new engine, new turbo, new clutch, new gearbox, new interior, new windscreen, multiple dents removed, new radiator etc.............other than that it was "pristine" as described by the previous owner :x
I hold no grudge against the previous owner, it will always be a case of buyer beware and I am sure to them it was a good car but I am REALLY REALLY fussy when it comes to my cars, some people just have a different standard I guess. You see it all the time with cars advertised.
Their description: Showroom condition = Good condition
Excellent condition = needs a heap of work to get to good condition
Good condition = major peice of crap
Fair condition = neglected its whole life and suitable for parts

what's wrong with the monaro for a spirited street drive? comfy.. quiet/loud when you want it to be.. shouldn't attract too much attention from the (abuse of) authorities if you don't do anything stupid.. and it should easily reach and surpass speed limits?
might not be as qucik as the track car.. but a v8 is good fun on the streets nonetheless?

There is the occasional good starion out there for under $7000, right Greg? ;)
Not getting withdrawal symptoms after all this time I hope?
Nah mate, I'm just wrestling with this dilemma that I have all this great mechanical stuff - sweet TC engine, supra box, choice of 3.5 or 3.9 LSD, coilovers, big brakes, wheels etc etc that are in the track car but I dont get the opportunity to drive it as much as I would like or realistically amable. Just mulling/thinking if it was in a road car I would get more use of it.
Take yesterday for example, I was set to do a track day at Eastern Creek. A few things to do last weekend in prep, (drain and fill with fresh fuel, bleed brakes and overall checkover) - didnt get to it due to other things going on in life, thought I'd get to it one night during the week. Work turned sour and I never got free of a night until about 10pm and didnt feel like crawling around under the car at that time. Plus its been pissing down here all week and I am totally stuffed mentally and physically. Friday comes, weather's at least dry but by now am I ready or feel motivated to go to the track NUP!!. Car will sits another 2 weeks before the next event on the 13th June. If it was registered, I would have taken it for a drive somewhere in the afternoon yesterday just for a bit of fun. :D
Thrash, the Monaro is certainly a great driver/cruiser and yes the family/me go for runs in it but the above hopefully explains what I am thinking about with Starion. If it was registered, it could be dual purpose albeit geared towards track work. That way I could get more use out of it rather than just when track events are on and if "life" allows me. I hate going to the racetrack not prepared. Thats when things will break and go wrong.
Hope that all makes sense. BTW - I think I just answered my own question. Thank you boys and girls for the therapy session LOL
Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.
