Spotted: 2 Starions at Phillip Island track day on Saturday

Post by Lummy »

I had the Scorpion out for a run on Saturday at the Island and there were 2 Starions also running. I was planning to go over to say g'day and introduce myself, but my car kept me pretty busy all day.

I thought I recognised your car, it's Barney's one right?

Mine is the JA and the widey belongs to ausmopar.
Now that I know you're on here I'll keep an eye out for you next time.

Was a great day for running around PI :D

That was my first time at P.I. The weather was sensational and WHAT A TRACK!!

I'm looking forward to actually racing there. It would be a hairy place to actually drive at 10/10ths.

I look forward to meeting you there sometime.

Yep, it's Barney's old car.

You know how you plan these days to go off without a hitch, and they very rarely do; well this day was hitchless.
I was on my own so I set my sights pretty low and spent all day just playing with tyre pressures - which I'd never done before, and got some interesting results.
The car ran faultlessly all day, the driver had an absolute ball and it was great catching up with ausmopar, his beautiful, fast, widey track car & his mates (one had a '72 265 Hemi Chrysler Regal & the other an early Evo).
Going around that place on a sunny day is about as good as it gets, and I was smiling right up until Geelong raped my Brissie Lions
I did get some video but it's pretty crappy; I'll see if I can find some time to edit it and come up with a compilation of good bits.
Now it's time to strip my girl down again in preparation for Targa High Country in November - watch this space

Hey cheater, yes, you need to get the old girl out and come mix it up again - last Saturday was a perfect way to have a play around with our toys.

No official times, but I think the widey is good for mid 1:50's and looking over the video I took, I was low 2 minutes.

I was mucking around with tyre pressures all day so times fluctuated quite a bit, added with more slow cars than normal & a huge oil dump around the back made for some interesting sessions.

Good to hear all was troublefree and you had a ball Jeff. Its those sorts of days that make all the work and effort worthwhile.
