Well my car is rolling again for the 1st time in ages :beer :beer
Finally finished the steering after i got my centre link back from HBI engineering in Christchurch with 2 brand new balljoints on it. Big plug to them as they did a brilliant job for a really good price.
So steering is now all in, rotors are on just need caliper brackets made up and braided hoses.
Only job to do on underside of car now is to do a shield for the braided fuel lines.

Big news number 2! I GOT MY NEW ENGINE BACK!!!
Has only taken a few months but hey - good things take time.
No pics of it yet as its all wrapped up and will stay that way until im home next leave, when il assemble the long block and timing gear, and then drop her in the big hole in my engine bay :)

Having second thoughts on the front rotors though as they seem rather small, and since im going custom brackets figure i might as well go bigger if i can find something thatl fit. Any suggestions welcome :)

Ive got a set of standard sized cross drilled and slotted rotors from the usa on there but behind my 17s they just look tiny. Just a matter of finding a set that will fit that are bigger i guess but we'll see what i can find without going custom 2 piece rotors.

Hey Bryce comeing along nicely :beer. Did I see our HD 24MM front sway bar in place ??. I have slotted, NOTE never get drilled as they crack if used for track work. 296mm Evo 4 discs and Sumotomo ( sounds better than Nissan 300zx LOL ) 4pot front brakes on my 4 stud hubs. Don't know how they would go on your 5 lugs though :?
NOTE I have had my master cylinder bored out and new piston installed for better pedal feel & to bring the pedal higher & have installed a Willwood bias adjuster in the engine bay to get better brake balance all engineered :)

Yep thats the 24mm swaybar i got off you :) I had it blasted and powdercoated so looks bloody good now. Random question, did you use the factory mounts for it on your car, or did you use aftermarket ones?
Found it very hard to find just slotted discs so thought id see how these ones hold up. Finding 5 stud discs with a decent hat height here seems impossible. Even the Racebrakes place here who supply all manner of motorsport cars had nothing to suit :roll:
As for the master cylinder, im gonna go with the same one Jase used on his gold car, Nissan Maxima 1 inch which should be up to the task.
I also have the nissan calipers which ive rebuilt - i like them as being alloy they are nice and light. I found a set of Subaru STI 4 pots at the pick a part yard near me 2 days ago which are a fair bit heavier. Then again i only paid $34 for them so theyl be a nice upgrade to Kates car when it needs new pads haha

Looking AWESOME mate!!!!!!! Even though its going to be a track car, its going to look like a show car. well done :beer

Those 17 inch rims might have enough clearence for a similar brake set up to mine.... 315mm dics :D mmmmm :)

Plus if your using the nissan calipers you may not have to space the disc out from the hub like I did.

I used the factory mount /saddle and used special shims = washers :) between the saddle and chassis to allow for the extra height of the poly bushes

Well joined the ship on wednesday, loaded and came strait back to auckland which was good :) And when i got home found a bit of bling sitting on the doorstep - COP conversion from the USA.
Am very stoked with it, looks fantastic and should go great too :)
Pic doesnt do it any justice the plate is mirror finish! And all for under $200nzd landed here :)

Almost got me thinking about a twin cam conversion. Almost, but no. Looks amazing, are you seriously just going to use it as a track car ? If so, what a terrible waste.

Vulpes its basically a toy for me, will be road legal as i intend doing the Targa NZ next year, but will be racing it in the SS2000 series as well as doing any track days that pop up along the way.
Its definitely gonna get plenty of use. :beer

Well been awhile between drinks but heres the latest:
Sent my sump off to be blasted and powdercoated after i put a new oil drain onto it, which is ready to pick up in the morning.
Have installed my head onto the short block using the ARP stud kit.

So next few days are installing everything else onto the front and rear of the block once i get the sump back.
Then just waiting on new engine mounts and in she goes :)

Oh yeah - decided that if i let my mrs choose a colour for my rollcage that she might be more inclined to let me spend $$$ on the car. So along with the rollcage, the rocker cover got the same colour treatment.
I like it, nice contrast with the fiji blue :)
