Wheel size question..........AGAIN !

Post by Vulpes »

Ok sorry to ask again but I am looking at some superlight wheels for my staz.
Would 15*10 fit under rear ? should i go for 16*8 rear and 16 by 7 front
or 15 by 10 rear and 15 by 8 front. I dont mind if I have to roll the guards i just need to fill it out heaps. I am sick of it looking so, so skinny ? there appears to about 30mm to the guards now.

Do they even make these to suit the staz ? do they make them to suit your order ?

It's hard enough to find NEW tyres to fit wide 16in rims such as 16x9 let alone 15in rims, esp in 9' & 10's.

Take the safe bet of 16x7 and 16x8 rims!! Tyre availability won't be an issue!

hey vulpes i can get you 16X7 and 16X8 wheels from the USA that are minilite/watanabe copies that will go on your car, takes about 2 weeks, shipped to your door. they're zero offset so you may need to roll the guards on the back if you fit big tyres to it.

10's will fit on the back but only with slightly undersized tyres and +12 offset.
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

The hard part is finding Drag Rims in 4 x 114.3. I'm going to go an 9" wide wheel on the back, with a 26 x 8.5 tyre. But I want something like Alumastars etc, not just cut down steelies etc.

I dont think so, found this pricing on an australian website:

Prices:
15 x 8” BS range 3 7/8”
to 4 ½” $695 per wheel
15 x 9 ” BS range 3 7/8”
to 5 1/8” $895 per wheel
15 x 10 ” BS range 4 ¾”
to 6 ” $995 per wheel

LOL nearly $4,000 for wheels ! are they crazy.

I'd be wary of wide 15" rims - had a little trouble finding 225/50/15 tyres to fit my Simmons so didn't have a lot of choice. Might have just been laziness by the tyre guy though :x

Are you after light wheels or something that will fill the guards out?
Track or street?

18racing.com were good to deal with and shipped air freight fast.

I have pics posted here of mine (no tyres sorry):

16x8 +10 is a good streetable size/offset with 225/50 or 205/55 tyres easy to get.
