Best $500 I've ever spent...

Post by Firebrand »

This arrived at my house yesterday :)

1983 GSR-III, hasn't been on the road in 10 years. Gonna grab all the bits that are better than the ones on my nice car, then see if I can get it running - if it's too far gone, I'll strip it I think.

BTW, does anyone know what the bottom (orange) sticker in this picture says?? :

Money well spend indeed!
Reduce fuel costs by 15-20% & cut emissions by 1/3rd...
Increase engine performance & prolong engine life...
How?

This is the one from 'Southland'? I had wondered who got their hands on this. Nice score.

What is actually wrong with it? The previous owner said it had some engine troubles. No doubt a fair bit of rust aswell.

seems like the south island is the place to find them.

I paid $800 for mine a couple of years ago and it came with LSD too... Had been parked up for 4 years when I got it

Yeah, its the one from Southland - Apparently it blew a turbo, I'm hoping to get the head off this weekend and see whether it's been damaged much, the ECI thing leaked fuel all over the place when I tried to start it, and its pretty rusty, there's a rusty hole in the passenger side floor, rust under the rear seats and a complete mess under the front windscreen. Exhaust manifold is cracked badly...
Rear brakes were seized. Otherwise it doesn't look too bad, interior is mostly pretty good, digital dash still works.

Still not 100% sure what I'm going to do with it - depends on what state the engine is in, as I'd rather spend money on my good starion...
