I was driving on the highway and when I took an exit I notice smoke coming out of my bonnet, so I pulled over and had a look and theres smoke coming out of the breather, lots of it. When I took it home and open up the oil filler cap and heaps of smoke came out, only thing is theres no smoke coming out of the exhaust. I did a compression test and i've got 150psi +/- in cyl 1,2,4 but only 70psi in cyl 3. Does this mean the piston/rings in cyl is stuffed or could the valves not be sealing? Is there a way to tell without pulling off the head. Sorry about the long post and thanks in advance.

Could be a bad valve guide.
Do the compression test again but this time put of bit oil into number 3 cylinder via the spark plug hole. If the pressure comes up then that indicates bad rings. If the pressure remains the same then its valve guides or headgasket.
*Edit: if this is a new engine then I would be taking it straight back to the builder and get him to diagnose and fix it.
