JB style on the doors seem the way to go. although they don't have an automatic click thingy, so you have to hold them down to make the windows go down  can't just click it and let them go down themselves then unclick.

The window buttons actually mount into the lower part of the door trim. You can retain the JA top section. But you'll need a JB/JD bottom section.
This is exactly what I have done.

You can see on the drivers door I have retained the JA trim on the top (the grey section). This part is identical to the JB and JD trim anway.
The window buttons mount in the black section of trim. The JB trim. You can see the passenger side button on the left of picture and the driver side buttons are just visible through the steering wheel.

Suprisingly it isn't. :)
The car has progressed quiet abit since then. When it's finished I'll show it off.

Ugh something else thats different in Starions.
My JB has them in the centre with the 'click' function, like you describe from the JA.

Thats coz your cars not a JB :P
JA, JB and JD are the aus starion codes, and are not applicable anywhere else, yours is a GSRIII right? its an import, so it follows different rules. :D
