3 Inch Exhaust

Post by thrash »

Hi All,

Just wanted to ask, for those of you who have 3 inch exhaust systems on their Starions, how high off the ground did you manage to get it? Are you getting a lot of vibrations?

If anyone can post underbody photos or even side view photos of the exhaust under the car, that would be much appreciated!

This is why i ask this question.. the car is standard height - no suspension mods or changes. this is how low the exhaust is, when viewed from the side. The exhaust guy reckons he can't get it up any higher without it touching the body.. i'm sure that can't be right??

I think he means "CAN'T" as in doesn't want to spend the time needed to get it right.

i thought that too, which is why I will probably take it elsewhere.. but i just don't get it.. he's running a business.. i'm paying money.. why can't he get it right? I didn't tell him anything about a budget at all. I just asked him to fix the noise and the height..

You can get lower profile mufflers.

Run a small one in the middle like this... http://www.vpw.com.au/productgroup.asp? ... GrpID=4357

And a bigger one at the rear as I know like to keep it quite.

Just a thought...

starion exhausts were an afterthought by mitsubishi i think, there's a serious lack of room under there...

if ever i do a ground up bare shell build i'll make a channel in the floorpan for it. it'd be worth the lumpy floor...

Mine is fairly close to the ground - have to be careful over speed bumps and ramps - but the car is lowered.

Hmm the underside of a Starion isn't really it's best angle...

yeah mine used to be around 70mm off the ground with the 14's on it. But a few speed humps helped it move up a bit... bent it up a bit. Just run a single muffler at the rear.

Ive got a 3 incher on my gold car. The car is quite low and the exhaust does crape a little over speed bumps. Ive got a oval muffler half way and a big oval one at the rear.
