Are cam gears on a DOHC exactly the same as SOHC?

Wow! So they'd be right for a DOHC application with longer belt etc, but you'd have to allow for that with a DOHC gear on a SOHC cam, right?

So is it more advanced or retarded than it should be?

I put a dohc gear on my 4g64 sohc, had the gear narrowed, and some material taken off the mounting face so everything fits fine, however as redzone said, the timing marks are slightly out. Other than that the normal sohc belt fits fine.

Something else to look at is the teeth profile on the gear. A starion one is square, and a twincam one has a rounded section. If it is the only pulley you are changing it is not really a problem, but if you go twincam you need the bottom pulleys also.

Thanks 18u, yes I've noticed that with the L300 2.4 head.
