Penrite oil info

Post by panda »

Found this interesting info on the Penrite web-site. Lists all the recommended oils for many cars, including Starion 2.0 & 2.6.

Click on 'Cars & 4WD', then 'Mitsubishi' (not AUS)

The 2.6 takes the same oil, but 200ml more.
Think of the extra weight...
Reduce fuel costs by 15-20% & cut emissions by 1/3rd...
Increase engine performance & prolong engine life...

A slight sidetrack...
Who uses good quality full synthetic oil on their freshly built engine only to throw it away after 1000 kms?
I wouldn't, I'd use a middle of the road mineral based oil (e.g. Castrol 20w50 to suit SOHC) for the running in, then use better stuff. I won't use the cheapo bottom shelf shit, as the first 1000 kays is important to have a decent quality oil IMHO.

What about a semi-synthetic for the run-in? I still see that as throwing money away...

hmm, do people prefer penrite over other brands like castrol or mobil? If so, what's the reason for it?

I run Penrite HPR10.

It was recommended to me by the Cam supplier (Camtech) he said the Penrite range of oils have a high amount of zinc that is benificial for the SOHC Flat Tappet Cams.
