Whats your planned use of the car, is it a daily or a weekend only car? Do you just want a lowered stance or do you plan to take to the track?

1. King springs and send your current struts to Redzone and get him to modify them to fit popular inserts into them
2. As per above - King Springs are available ex Repco stores and have an online catelogue with Starion parts listed. Redzone is an online catalogue - he stores it all it in his head :beer
3. Pick up phone and ask - generally Kings springs are about 180- 200 pair.
Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.

Im going to be using the mostly on weekend, i would say dayly driver but i only drive a few km's to work so it doesnt count.
I want some suspension that makes the car stick to the ground when giving it a bit of stick but isn't spongy, i don't really mind if i feel the bumps in the road.
By saying send the struts to redzone what do you mean?, will he just rebuild them? what i'm after is an upgrade, not a rebuild so im just trying to find out what people have and what to expect feel and a estimated price to.

thanks

i modify the struts to accept koni inserts front and rear, the MR2 ones are the go, have to shorten the struts to fit them.. that and a set of kings = hot

realistically it would be somewhere around $1500 at a guess.

if you can wait (and i mean wait) i'm sending some starion struts away to get measured/compared with some coil overs, so that i might be able to get something proper adapted for starions.

Dave I am still interested in hearing what they can come up with :D

Do you know if the pricing will be the same? Or more expensive? Either way, it should be a better option in the end. :beer

If you want Koni then Top Performance in Vermont are Koni distributor and will modify struts to suit, supply springs etc. No point sending stuff to QLD when you can drive there locally....sorry Dave :D

Also get linear springs rather than progressive rated springs, it makes for more predictable handling. Also dont forget your bushes as well, would be a waste spending the money on suspension if you dont replace the bushes if they are shot. A swaybar upgrade will be one of the best value for money mod too.

Has anyone taken this a step further and tried to fit something special - like Bilsteins or Proflex shocks?

I have Koni inserts with King Springs in my car and thing handles really well (it's a dedicated track car), but I often wonder if I could get it handling even better with better shocks.

Don't know, I bought it like this.

It's Barney's old car (Scorpion King?).
