skyline brakes..
being that we are converting the car to 5 stud and putting in the lsd out of the ex soon, is it worth getting a mount plate made up to fit the 4 pot front/2 pot rear skyline brakes?
can we fit the rotor at the same time, or does it not have a high enough hat thingy? meaning not enough offset and rubbing on struts(planning coilover conversion too, so may have a bit more space there)
ideally we would like to replace all the brakes, as the current ones are half buggered. (caliper pins stuck, pulls to left like crazy, various things)
also much better selection of pads available for skylines

Yes its worth it but if i remember correctly the rears will not work on our cars.
The 4 pot fronts will work with a bracket made up, but you wont be able to use the skyline rotors as like you said the hats are different height.
The bracket specs for the callipers is floating around on here somewhere have a search and ul find it - any decent engineering place should be able to make them up for you.
Im using the 4 pots on the front of my track car, and am just in process of getting the brackets done atm.

Can someone explain/draw a diagram/post a pic of the "hat thingy" and what that refers to with regard to brake conversions...I get that there's a clearance issue but otherwise no idea.

That's a factory evo 2 caliper. Rotors are supposed to be 276. Easily available from DBA and RDA. Pad selection is awesome for them too.
They're designed for 1 inch master cyls.
I'd be wary about going to 4pots with less than a 1 inch master cyl as you could cook your fluid relatively easily and getting a good feel would be an issue.

Disc offset and width same as early evo, they just bigger in diam (still 4 stud too). look like they may have been machined down in diam possibly too. not sure what they are off.Entaran wrote:That's a factory evo 2 caliper. a 1" master makes for much better pedal feel.

Standard Starion items are front and rear 255mm and 247mm respectively.
More info please on the caliper fitment? (where you drilled the holes in the standard hubs).
What are the rears you've used?

Interestingly 276mm will fit under the standard 15" wheels, as do the 282mm with wilwoods (Cookies brake conversion in Technical section) but if these are 282mm with Gen 1 Evo calipers, do they still fit under the stock 15" wheels? Looking forward to the bracket specs.

Do these fit under the 15" factory wheels? What size are the Evo4 rotors and what Nissan are the 4 spots off? The calipers are 300zx type Sumitomos which I am told are the same as s14,15 and Skylines

300zx calipers are the same as the r32 skyline calipers but different to the r33 as the r33 skyline have bigger disc and the lugs on the calipers are longer. S14 and s15 calipers are physically the same dimensions as the 300zx calipers but are made of cast iron where the 300zx are alloy. The mitsubishi gto/3000gt calipers are also made by sumitomo and might be the same as the 300zx calipers.

Best bit is no adaptor brackets (will take some pics soon of how to bolt it up). just have to mod the fasteners. they fit under some 15" wheels yes.
