It actually alot cooler the manifold is a long way away from the steering box it got cooked from the old manifold it was actually touching i don't have much faith in that hpc coating its running a heap coolerredzone wrote:thats gonna cook the brakes and clutch master if they dont refit the alloy heat shield i made up!

steering box is the least of your worries, tell em to refit that heat shield or the brakes/clutch master will cook..

i second putting the heat shield on, had a friend with the turbo in same position and he would have no brakes after a bit of hard driving as the fluid would boil in the master cylinder and lines.

I didn't want to sound nasty but the manifold you built cooked my steering box which was already rebuilt it cost me $750 also it dosen't get that hot because the manifold flows alot betterredzone wrote:steering box is the least of your worries, tell em to refit that heat shield or the brakes/clutch master will cook..

You mean to say the you have managed to find a manifold that flows so well it doesn't absorb any significant heat from the 1000 degree heat of combustion that occurs in the engine? If it flows so well, theory tells us that the exhaust gases will be hotter and the manifold should see more heat.kit wrote: it dosen't get that hot because the manifold flows alot better
ps.It's probably an idea to keep personal attacks to PM's.

*sigh*
i wasnt getting nasty garry, just trying to save you having to get your brakes and clutch systems rebuilt again.. and if they think a turbo beanie is better than an alloy heatshield they need their heads read. or doesnt the heatshield fit anymore??

Nicely made manifold, but if you had the $$$ to spend maybe you could have ditched the power steering all together with a manual box conversion and had the new manifold made to sit the turbo further forward away from all these fluid/hydrolic components.
