pajero / l200 / l300 diff gears

Post by TomVR4 »

i know this has probably been covered a lot of times, but most of the posts i found didn't open (too old or something).

So does the early model 7.25" pajero front diff crown and pinion gears bolt straight up to the small starion lsd centre? I am guessing they will fit, and people have probably already done it, just want to confirm my suspicions.

May be a silly question.....but do they bolt to the standard open centres aswell or are they different?

Cheers mark..
As long as I'm not watching the road out of the back window I know everything will be ok.

What vintage Pajero ones are suitable? Are they the 4 cylinder ones or the 3L six?

What sort of ratios are available from the Pajeros? Is it just the one ratio or are there a few?

Small LSD centre's are so hard to come by, so I suppose that's the reason that not many people go down this road.

I know you have one though TomVR4, you lucky bugga!

yeah only 4.6's. too short for a road car but perfect for a rally car!

Any reason you couldn't unbolt the LSD centre from the crown wheel and put it in a Staz? Bit of mucking around but a solution?

I made a speed vs rpm graph for this diff ratio and the w58 gearbox with my rim size and profile. doesn't look too short, around 3000rpm for 100k's in 5th. (yeah, i have too much time on my hands)

4.6 ratio belong behind gutess hi revving motors. 4Gs sohc or dohc have adequate torque
Often seen changes to shorter gears in street cars worsen ETs.
