Ive had a few pre 85 starions that have been intercooled with the early type injection.... Must have been an option. Same with LSD's I guess. Im talking JDM models here.JDSTAZ45 wrote:OK, so intercooled Starions have been around before 85/86!!! The proof is in the sale of a GSR-?? on Yahoo at the moment
with intercooling shown with the old injection system!!! It annoys me that this I/C could have been an option at the time.
Mitsubishi (in Aust. at least) introduce their models in strange ways....????
It does mention that the car is some 'developement' model ?

Very cheap for Starion enthusiasts!! Around $500 plus shipping and import costs. There should be no GST on this one if under $1K!!
Basically, a Series II JA with tan interior but with JB seats and factory I/Cooling. It doesn't appear to have the LSD???
Nice starion. Did you notice the odd looking ABS unit and the fuel tank breather has been moved....
Looks quite cool on those wheels....

mal zaidja83's car is a 84 GSR-III with type A injection and the flat mounted factory intercooler. i modded the piping to suit his multipoint conversion and modded turbo, but yes it was a factory intercooled car.
those wheels arent OE. looks like a mix of GC 626 and early magna.

Yeah, they should have made the Intercooling an option in the early models and not bring it on with the JD model here in Oz!
Rear ABS is interesting.... I remember my staz in the 80's (when relatively new and untouched) would lock up in the rears under heavy braking.
I'm not surprised it was available as a safety measure! A bit daft these days!!

definitely not a GSR-IV, well at least I don't see any obvious badges or decals. Looks to be a GSR-II

Its rego'ed as a GSR IV though. I could take the chassie number into Mitsubishi and see what they say.

it could have been a factory option, very rarely ticked with the GSR-IIs, or it could be a very very last model of the GSR-II factory optioned with GSR-III stuff. Who knows even a previous owner could have retrofitted ABS?
Also with registration, you can register your car with any submodel you like if you're the first person to register it. I'm about to register a Legnum and I can register it as a LEGNUM DOOHICKY if I like. I've seen a few like E39A VR-4s registered as an RS-R which we know doesn't exist.
