It's official, JA is finished. New Project arriving soon.
Had the windows tinted on Thursday ( looks amazing now ) so it officially completly finished.
A good friend of mine and his wife seperated this week and he left his MG Midget in the shed and told me I could have it for $1,500. So I will go and collect it and start rebuilding it. Having tested my painting and body repair skills on the staz I am looking forward to restoring this old girl. Classic simplicity in motoring. I was looking at buying Mals auto widey but just cant stretch the budget. I can also register the MG on historic plates if I have to, So watch this space for updates...............now how do I fit that spare starion motor in that little engine bay

Some people I believe fit a more modern Datsun 1200 engine into them but I'm just going to rebuild the old one all 50 odd Kw of it ( if its lucky )

+ You can still buy lots if not all parts new.
I know you said 100% stock but the gearbox is a down point, I fitted a Toyota box behind a Marina motor in a customers Austin Healy Sprite, makes it a way better drive and no one would ever know.
I like those old British sports cars so keep us updated, and good luck with oil leaks :D

I have an A12 in my shed under a cover. Was reco'ed in 1991 and hasn't been touched since. So will need to be opened again. Yours if you want it.Vulpes wrote:rofl Dont worry Fugazi, Im restoring her to DEAD original condition. The Datsun A12 motor was first seen in Australia in about 1969, I think. Its a Datsun copy of an Austin motor, but went harder. For a push rod motor, it easily span to nearly 8,000 rpm stock. :)

After you mentioning your lastest little project, I've noticed a few on the road. Nice little car and should be a fun project!! :)
One was light blue with rust on the bottom doors and around the back pillar.
What colour is yours? Does it have the wire wheels and the chrome luggage add-ons??
:beer :beer :beer
PS. I hope the 'fun' track car doesn't get left behind.... :(
