I have just lowered my Starion.
Replaced all shocks with KYB shocks (rear shocks had to be customised) and lowered the car with Dobi sport springs.
It only lowered the car 1 inch though. And from what I was told that is lowest you can go, unless
A) You get some custom springs made - fairly expensive.
or
B) Get your springs compressed. Which is what I am going for, to get it down that extra Inch.

If you do it, do it properly, not half assed, your suspension system is very important. And i'm not saying that Komeuppance has done it wrong, he has just gone about it a different way, but personally I don't have the skills, equipment or inclination, so I just pay someone to do it. How many kms has your Starion done? if it's getting up there in mileage I would recommend replacing your shocks.

Doing it the was komeuppance did it is the right way, using a shorter shock gives him more shock travel than you would have if you just used lowered springs.Dash wrote:If you do it, do it properly, not half assed, your suspension system is very important. Isn't it the spring that determines the height of your car?? shocks don't take any weight at all.RiceThief wrote:Doing it the was komeuppance did it is the right way, using a shorter shock gives him more shock travel than you would have if you just used lowered springs.Dash wrote:If you do it, do it properly, not half assed, your suspension system is very important. The ride height of the car is determined by the length of your strut and the height of the springs. Reducing the height of the springs comes at the cost of suspension travel. So by reducing the length of the strut and putting in a shorter shock you keep the same suspension travel and get the lowered ride heightDash wrote:Isn't it the spring that determines the height of your car?? shocks don't take any weight at all.
