Hey guys, i'm just looking to get some estimates from you guys about how much i'm gonna need to spend to get my rust repaired by a shop? I also want to know if anyone has ever just had the bottom half of their starion painted in a shop (to make it two tone style) and how much that cost them.
Shops will spot repair and repaint rust right? I've got a little rust spot on the roof right in the middle above the windshield and apart from that the only rust i have is the bottom of the doors.
Any ideas on costs that you can share with me would be fantastic.

Friends call me Ashgan or Ash... But you can call me failchanic. If there's a routine maintenance job that exists on a starion, then chances are i've failed at it.
First attempt fails include:
-Changing indicator light

My opinon is that if cost is the main issue for you, then it may be wiser for you to start looking to buy a starion that someone else has already had resprayed.
I think most of us will agree that these cars are not cost effective to repair and you will always lose when its time to sell unless you do all the restoration work yourself. So buying someone elses restoration will always be cheaper (if it has been done properly).
Post some pics up so we can have look

My advice is use the same place to do both the rust repairs and the painting.
Been caught in the middle before when paint reacts or something goes wrong and the blame game comes out. If a panel shop won't repair rust walk away and try to find a shop that doesn't just do high volume insurance accident repair.
I'd also try to find all the rust first, so remove the panel under the wipers to check there, also check the top of the doors in the channel above the window,(remove the rubber and check) and behind the rear wheels.
Costs there I have no idea above but it cost a few hundy just to crack the paint gun for minor touch up so the more you get painted the cheaper it seems. I paid $4g for full panel and paint including rust repairs and I stripped the car myself.
Oh and like sucka says its money you might as well chuck at the pokies, it isn't gonna add much to the value of the car, but if shes a keeper then best to do these thing once and correctly.

find a restoration/hot rod etc specialist, not your average insurance type shop. and have a look at their previous work too.
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

I'd budget a dead set minimum of $1500.
Doors alone are 300-400 a side just to gas (paint), because they have to be blended from halfway into the front and rear quarters, then there's the repair itself which will include cutting and welding in new sheet metal, then filler, sanding, etc.
Roof work is generally twice that of any other work because of the PITA factor of getting to it... oh and someone else has to take your windscreen out and put it back in.
If you get out for $2k for a 2pac finish you'll be laughing. Might be worth considering painting the other 3 panels because frankly, you're goin to have over 50% of the car painted anyway (3/4's of the roof, 2/3'rds of the front and rear guards, entire door & surround)
Assuming it's done properly.
You will find some monkey somewhere quote you 800 or 900 bucks, be prepared for a finish that matches.
