Rattling shuddering

Post by Ashgan »

Hey guys, what would a shuddering/rattling sound coming from the rear when taking off and rounding corners at lower speeds be an indicator of?

Would this be my wheel bearings going? My other theory is bushings going on the rear left (after replacing susp. all round and replacing a missing bushing on the idler arm *most* of my left side bump steer is gone, but not all of it) is that likely to cause a shuddering noise?

Cheers,

-Ash
Friends call me Ashgan or Ash... But you can call me failchanic. If there's a routine maintenance job that exists on a starion, then chances are i've failed at it.

First attempt fails include:
-Changing indicator light
-Changing spark plugs
-Changing belts
-Changing airfilter
-Changing oil
-Removing rear strut
-Replacing front strut

sounds like the driveshaft cv's might be worn, I'd be checking them first.

Your limited slip differential is locking up, the clutch plates are chattering. Fluid low, or old/really bad, add new fluid with friction modifyer.

Haha... assuming you have a LSD.

I got some lol's out of those replies...

Just replaced shocks, i assumed that was the problem, along with the cause of my bump steer, but not so.

LSD? I wish! Pretty certain i just got the stockers open wheeler diff for the JA.

I'm pretty certain it's a diff/CV/wheel baring problem, or bushings, i dunno.

Actually, starting to think about it now, i think there is practically only ever power going to the right side wheel :?

So CV? Should i just take it into a place to get checked out?

Take them out. If it's stiff...that's the problem. If not...look elsewhere.
