Well finally got my welder up and running with gas today so decided to start attacking the rust in the rear quarters.
By the end of the day it really doesnt look like ive made alot of progress but im getting used to the new welder now, and getting to grips with the settings.
Fabrication is definitely NOT as easy as it looks, i had 3 attempts at fabricating the new piece before i was happy with it.
Once i got it welded in, it was ok, but wasn't overly happy with the welds so after grinding them and redoing them have decided to start from scratch again 2moro as think i ground the steel back a bit much.
Frustrating = YES
But good learning experience none the less, as this is the first time ive done anything like this :)
Heres where its at now:
Don't mind the holes :) Bit too much current on the welder.
Oh and this arrived this morning too :)
Twincam thermostat adaptor :)

Will just be a matter of mocking up the brackets, then getting them cut out of 10mm steel plate by an engineer, all going well haha :)
would be very interest to hear how it goes as im looking at upgrading my brakes
87 GSR-V, Factory DASH, Rebuilt bottom end with arp rod bolts and balance shafts removed, head reconed with 3 angle valve grind, TD05 housing machined out to take Garrett T4 internals, rebuilt and cryoed gearbox

Rust repairs went on backburner today, spent the arvo cleaning the garage instead as it was a pigsty!!!
Yep ive got that just have to take it to my engineering place to have the brackets cut :)RiceThief wrote:Given you have 5 stud brakes already, the hard work has been done already, there is a braket designed by starion4me that will allow you to use the skyline calipers.bridgey wrote:Are the skyline brakes a difficult mod to do?
Well cut a mock up bracket out of 3mm alloy today for the brakes and looks like it should be all gd. Other than me not quite getting one of the holes centred properly.Lunacy wrote:Yep ive got that just have to take it to my engineering place to have the brackets cut :)RiceThief wrote:Given you have 5 stud brakes already, the hard work has been done already, there is a braket designed by starion4me that will allow you to use the skyline calipers.bridgey wrote:Are the skyline brakes a difficult mod to do?
