More Smoke!!

Post by Camotec »

I seem to have alot of smoke coming from the rear tyre wells, i don't know what is causing it as i had my engine rebuilt only a little while ago.

The smoke often occurs as i plant my foot but will stop maybe a block down the road, the car dosen't seem to go really fast when this is happening also, but my speedo says i am doing 80km/h.
I have also noticed a black tar-like substance on the rear of the car and behind the rear wheel wells.

Please Help

Ben.

We should open a new forum for smoky Starions.

But back to you Ben.
Sounds like you got a real problem there. Your throttle may be sticking after you push it down, a bit of WD40 on the throttle cable may help this. Are you getting enough salt in your diet, are you drinking enough water? Your foot could be cramping which makes you straighten it to get rid of the pain. All the smoke could be dulling your senses when it happens.

What are your tyres like? Possibly too thin? Have you got an LSD?

You may need to just keep driving to get a better understanding of the problem, perhaps some photos or video would help us all diagnose the problem.

Hope it all works out for you.

i dont think its this, but when car is too low or there is damaged / bent parts the wheel can rub on the coilover under accel.... just a thought... looked at the inside tire walls?
I figured out the meaning of life, and since then every day just gets worse.

Warranty void if stupid.

i burst my oil return line on my turbo, right on the flange where it sits on the bottom.

i put 4l of 20w60 in my car the other day, took it for a 'spirited drive' and smoke started PISSING from what appeared to be the tire wells. oil which
was leaking from the flange was dropping onto my exhaust and burning. my turbo managed to survive this drought but its all fixed now :)
