Troubles troubles troubles..

Post by Fryman »

Hi Everybody!

Ok heres the problem *tears* My starion wont start. What you say? never! these cars ALWAYS start.. but mine wont

Story goes a lil something like this. ...

When Roger (the owner) had it.. on occasion from cold he would start it. it would start, idle for 3 seconds. then die. the you go 2 start it again.. it rolls over but wont fire!!! Come back say in an hour.. try to start it again, and off i go on my journey
now since i have been borrowing it.. it has NEVER done that. Roger came around, the other nite, and he took it for a drive. now its starting to do that to me! Grrr

went to start the car this morning.. now it wont start @ all. rolls over rolls over.. but no gusto. any ideas???

Thanks y'all

You're either not getting fuel or not getting spark. Get someone to crank it whilst holding a spark plug lead near the body. Any spark?

If you have spark then it is most likely a fuel problem.

Hmmm

Sounds flooded.

Dry crank it.

(Disconnect injector electrical plug, WOT and crank for 30 seconds).

Often will start on the fuel in the manifold alone.

Regards
David.

ok thanks y'all ill try all those a lil later this evening. one thing to note that it almost 100% will do it when cold.. but often does it when warm as well :( its not constant enough to make easy diagnostics.

but i find when it does fire.. if you keep the revs up to about 2 grand for 10 secs, then let go it will idle proper. not good for the engine when cold.

Damn these cars, love em.. but soooo picky

It sounds like leaking injectors. Goto start the car in the morning at it's already flooded.

Leaking injectors then lead on to fouled plugs too which may affect hot starting.

All heresay of course.. you need to do some more investigating.

Check for spark.
Look at the condition of the plugs.
When it does start does it smell rich? Big puff of black smoke out the exhaust?
