Important things to know about electrics

Post by WANTSOM »

I had some electrical gremlins in the track car which Cookie offered to help sort out. Now I admit I know 'eff all' about amps/volts blah blah blah so the Cookster's offer was very appreciated. Here are some things I learned -

1. The headlight popups will not work if you cut the wire to them when you cut all the other "useless" wires from under the dash and console.

2. If your power windows arent working, it COULD be the missing fuse in the slot marked "power windows"

3. When tracing the electrical circuit to see why the indicators arent working, and it says it has a plug connector. The word connector is a vital clue, they need to be connected at the plug.

4. If your wife/girlfriend/sleepover walks into the garage early on a Sunday morning while you are in the midst of doing the wire cutting exercise, and says "are you sure you know what you are doing?" - it isnt a question. She knows that you dont and is just being polite by posing it as a question. You stand a good chance of being reminded of the conversation at a later, suitable opportunity.

5. At 2 glasses of Coke, a chiko roll and a cup of coffee, Cookie is a cheap auto electrician. Thanks buddy, you saved my arse (again) but I know you enjoyed the comic relief at my expense. And for all who migt be interested, not once did Marie wield the can of FuckOff at us all day, on account of she wasnt there for most of it.

And that was my Saturday folks. Providing comic relief and amusement to all this around me. I am just that sort of guy.

BTW - track car is on its wheels and starts and runs and goes vroom vroom yeehahhhh. Pics will be posted soon once I get Pbase sorted out. Bastards want me to pay!!!!
Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.

Thanks for sharing your adventures Greg. Always a laugh :D

What would we do without Cookie, eh?

Great to hear that the car is almost ready :)

I can host the pics and video on the sydney starions site if you like. It hasn't been updated in a while.

Charlie.
