Hey,
When the car was down at the garage getting the brake stuff fixed today, the mechanic told me that there was an odd noise coming from the turbo and he took it to mean that a turbo rebuild was likely to be needed in the next 3 months or so.
Is it going to be cheaper to rebuild the normal turbo than to chuck a new turbo in? If i go for a new turbo like a T06 or something huge like a T2350, what are the new costs involved? How much more will it cost to go to a better turbo? I planned to upgrade to a big turbo eventually, but if the current turbo is on the way out, ill get the new turbo now instead of just rebuilding.
TIA
Cost for new turbo

TD05-16G=$800NZ on average sold privately here, with either low usage or fresh rebuild - will need custom mods to fit
TD05-12 - $50-$150NZ (was working when in car styles) bolt on
TC05-12A - $50-$150NZ (see above) bolt on
TC06-11A - dunno, bolt on
Real turbos like TD06 and TD05/TD06 hybrids will be 1G plus.
