Ok i adjusted that down to about 900rpm but the cars idle now fluctuates again going from 900rpm to 1500rpm when the car is warm... up and down up and down etc. does this mean a faulty boost sensor?? as it dosen't make a difference to the idle whether it is plugged in or out? if not the boost sensor then what? please help :?

Cheers

JB Idle problem

Post by arnstar »

Ben,

Does your car have a stalling problem apart from fluctuating idle?

nope hasn't stalled once on me, some times it takes 2 goes to start but i think thats just cause the fuel dosen't get all the way there the first time.

but once started goes well, except for the idle issue

Idle Probelm

Post by arnstar »

Ben,

Followed the procedure that TD05 suggested from this site below.

http://users.tpg.com.au/fastech/screw.jpg

I seem to get the same idle problem you are having now. I have only experienced it a couple of times when in idle goes up and down from 900 to 1500 rpm.

I have an ongoing drama with my 85 JB with stalling issues and have done everything with my factory injection system, TPS, ISC, AFM and fuel pump. All seems to be functioning accordingly. You mentioned something about faulty boost sensor. Can you elaborate on this matter.

PS. Your starting problem. Does start rich then clears when reved? If it is, pressure check your injectors and see if it is leaking. Replace it so it does not flood the engine.

Cheers!

try disconnecting the ICS it's the little plunger pushing against the throttle (idle rpm) adjust screw, follow the three wires and disconnect it, if the idle settles then you may have a faulty ICS...

During the last days that I had the JB injection, I resetted the ISC valve and TPS using a multimeter. This made it idle VERY nicely and ran VERY well (until it carked it and went in for MPI). If anyone still has that step-by-step page could they post it up?

cheers
