Not again..

Post by dirtygalant »

so I've done it again.. instead of not spending my money and paying off debt I've picked up a 1991 Mitsubishi Delica 4WD van, pretty rough around the edges but it will do. Powered by a 2.5 diesel turbs, thankfully it looks to have been cared for enough by previous owner. Was used as a tradesman's van so is missing most the rear seats, many broken plastic trim bits inside etc. Exhaust is broken, has a bit of a scrape/dent on one side but for $750 it was a bargain.

unsure what my plans are for it yet, pretty much just need to get it a WOF and roll it as is for a while, then perhaps a lift kit, some wider alloys with mud grip tyres, a ladder on the tail gate, epic roof rack and roof box with floodlights, big spotties on the front etc

It's what happens when a Starwagon has sex with a Pajero.

My mate has the L400 2.8 turbo diesel version and it is mad :)
There is a delica forums over here you can download all the service manuals for it from.

Nice Score for $750

Nice van-They run RWD high for normal road use, then high-low 4x4.Only problem is they are as high as a kite.

My brother has one of these,Ended up ripping out the oil burner and putting in a 2.6 sigma motor + LPG.Camper conversion with a huge electric sunroof.

they have a common problem with rocker gear breaking and causing valves to drop = holes in pistons and fucking the head. (He had 4 motors in his shed with this)+ a shit load of vans weve looked at.
Good to see it has a good service history so should last you ages :beer

haha, nice. so they are ok off road? doesn't look like it has much ground clearance. give it some suspension and body lift and fit some 33's!

the transfer case hangs down a bit and the rear driveshaft is stupidly short, like 40cm long short.

some pics of my own:

Wicked. That would be awesome for surf missions. I'm laughing hard at the single seat in the back. Would be boring as! Good score. Do you have a million garages Phil?

close enough :P I have the one garage at my house which the VR-4 is stashed away in, and have a large garage which fits 12 cars which me and a bunch of buddies rent out just a few mins away where everything else is.
