Post by Vulpes »

Got a price today for white Simmons V4's for the JA. Pricey at $2,500 but I reckon they are the best wheels foe these cars, should look great !

Why 15's? Legally you can use 16 for the JA. Max. width would be 7" though, without the Engineers approval (in NSW).

I reckon it would be pretty hard to get wide tyres in 15's these days!!

If you ring simmons and ask if they have the sizing for a JA Starion in 16". I do recall the original buyer of the wheels saying that they originally specified 7" front and 8" rear and when he got them they were too small for his liking. He put the 8"s on the front and had new outers put on the 7" rims to make 9". It scrubbed on unrolled guards with 225/50 tyres all round, but a quick rolling made it all good. Those wheels made the car in my opinion. I PM'd the original buyer's name in the hope it is on file at Simmons still.

Simmons dont make 15" wheels anymore. The castings for the centres and all the tooling were sold to Retro Wheels in Peakhurst Sydney who can still make a 15" Simmons if that is what you are after. (I thought the V4 was a discontinued line and was replaced by the "Versa" which is what we had on Maries silver JA. I think they are also a discontinued range also now.)

A call to Simmons would confirm.

Cheers
