"Old School" American Widebody
fresh out of the body shop and headed home.
wanted more of a "muscle car" look to it.
just for the record, those are 15 inch rims on a widebody.

everyone says Trans AM.
i was shooting for mustang, but Trans Am is not hateful.
this was what i was shooting for. where this mustang says "gt350" in the side stripe mine will say "TSI 2.6" , i just havent added it yet.
is the front grill what makes you to think of a Trans Am? i have thought about redoing the grill with only a single opening to make it more like the mustangs grill.

I like it....
I thought immediately of the late 70's early 80's Pontiac Firebirds, black with the gold stripes and the phoenix (i think) on the bonnet...
Does make me think of a muscle car :)

A different look for a Starion, that's for sure.
I think it'll look good when it's all done.
Are you planning on putting fixed headlights in?
The front end reminds me of the 80's Camaro...

actually i did all the work myself, my dad just happens to be a painter. i have just picked up on bodywork over the years growing up around it.redzone wrote:its AWESOME to see someone outside of australia spending the bickies and getting their starion (or conquest) body done professionally :beer

i have done 100% of all the work on the car myself, bodywork, underbody, mechanics, and the paint.
the headlights looks weird because the headlight covers are not on the lights. they are not yet painted and havent been installed back on the car yet. it will be using just the stock quest headlights.A different look for a Starion, that's for sure.

the car was actually rushed out of the bodyshop by the manager of the shop. there are some things i wanted to do to the car that will be done next winter season.
i tried to get as much done as i could in the time frame that i had to work with.
some future mods will be a one peice front bumper and airdam. i have given thought to possibly removing the rear quarter glasses and doing functional side vents to the rear brakes.
i also still need to figure out a grill material of some kind to put behind the new open holes in the grill.
i guess i just wanted something different, something maybe not seen or done to a quest before. i have just always been a fan of old muscle cars so i thought why not give the quest some small changes and see how it looks.
i am not sure if anyone knoticed but the side vents behind the doors were smooth in to make them appear to be molded into the body lines of the car.

Are you just gonna use the stock airdam and join that, or will it be your own design?CyberQuest wrote: some future mods will be a one peice front bumper and airdam.
If you own design, I will be looking forward to seeing this! :beer
My plan for the front is below.. but i have a narrow body, so it will look slightly different

Stripes (love gold on black) and scoop look a treat but I don't much like the Camaro style grille holes.
Wheels don't look out of place and are a great addition for the muscle car period theme you were looking for.
Nice work.

If at first you don't succeed, maybe skydiving just wasn't your sport!

here is a pic of my silver 88 that i restored about three years ago, but sold very shortly after it was finished. i had the same muscle car theme in mind for it but close to the end of the build i knew it was going to be sold cause i needed the money.
i did the grill on that one as a single opening, so on this one i wanted something a little different then i did the first time.
i still might re-make the front grill peice.
as far as the front bumper as a one peice, i would love to make my own design but not sure if my skills are that good. bodywork is one thing but custom fiberglass work i have never tried before.
one thing is for sure, my front bumper and air dam both need replaced. the bumper is very very very rusted and the air dam has been repaired about three times now so its about its last time around the block.
i should have my head back by monday so i should hopefully have it up and running by next week. i should also have the headlight covers and side marker peice painted to finish the last of the body peices.
there will be tons of pics taken this summer of the car. i took a ton last year at the drag strip.
here are some pics from last season.
here is a video of one of my runs. this was two months after i bought the car for $1500. these runs were made in BONE STOCK condition, minus a gutted precat. best time i ran last season with it stock was a 15.200, and it was my last run of the day and was pass #11 down the track.
