wtf.. starion sputerring at high revs

Post by reedys1 »

ok so she runs fine under normal driving. but if you give her too much gas at high revs she'll sputter and carry on at about 3500 - 4000 revs only under boost. is my turbo shagged it doesn't seem to cut off goes into the red boost gauge and stays there. eg.. fast acceleration from first to second normaly i can get over70 - 80km no worries but now it sputters and carries on while under boost if i drop down from third into second at high revs theres no problem. running stock starion ja 82 set up no modifications.

Sounds like your hitting the fuel cut. This happens if you are trying to run more then I think 8psi of boost? I can't remember the exact psi or bar, but yeah, there are a few ways to trick it, but safest way is to install a fuel cut defender. Search the forums for it.

IF you are running stock boost, make sure you aren't accidently running more, by checking the vacuum hose going from the actuator to the turbo. And make sure the vacuum hose going to the MAP sensor is good and not split.

Had a similar problem. Turned out to be a stuck waste-gate on the turbo, which over boosted, which made the fuel mixture go lean, which caused the 'fuel cut' feature to kick in.

Check to see what your boost gauge is doing when it starts spluttering.
It could be your MAP sensor...

yep most likely overboost (over 13psi) or faulty map sensor. could also be as simple as plug leads.

Yeah I had this problem many times. Was never the same issue. I just had it about 1 year ago on the widey, and it was because a lead had a slight hole in it and was shorting against my dump

Got the same sorta problem with mine as well, all stock setup too...will check this out further at some stage soon. It's not the leads, they're basically brand new, doubt it's the wastegate but I'll check it again.
