OMG sooo so so close to starting her today.
Funniest thing happened, I was outside with my head under the bonnet wondering wtf is going on with the engine (I have fixed the oil leak btw) when this dude just walks up and goes, nice Cordia's you got there. So we start talking and I tell him my probs and what I've done and I cant get it going etc. etc. anyway, this guy is a 3rd year mechanic and he ended up staying helping me for about 6 hours, he really knew his shit too, he was stuffing around with the mixtures and timing and farrk we almost got it going, it choked and coughed almost every time I cranked it but it wouldnt keep going. We discovered that it is flooding when you crank it and fuel is leaking from the rail into the carby.
Still cant believe this dude just hung around for 6 hours fixing my car for free, I told him I'd buy him a slab if he got it going. :D
P.S, have also discovered that its not a Starion engine, its a Jap Spec Cordia engine.

I liek to flutter.
I hope not. I had a jap spec cordia engine in the first jap car I ever owned. this almost put me off jap cars forever. :(
it had a carbie, and a turbo. still to this day I am not sure how it worked, the turbo comp housing was part of the inlet manifold, that’s right, cast as the same piece. freaky. but when you pulled the carbie off you where looking into the inlet runners, and there was NO turbo blades to be seen, I have no idea where the turbo inlet was and no idea where the outlet was.. I didn’t know much about engines back then but I knew enough to know it sucked.
anyway, if it is that motor throw it away and get the injected one (the carb was a 1.6L anyway eeeewwwww) there is no point spending a cent on one of those.

I figured out the meaning of life, and since then every day just gets worse.
