Most Japanese cars of the time (in Japan) had them, due to the width restriction put in place for each insurance and tax class. The fender mirrors stick out less than the door mirrors do.

Yeah, I believe it's a Galant Lamda, but I don't really care. Most people struggle to even work out that it's a Scorpion, if you try to tell them any more detail than that, you've lost them.

Any chance someone with a Scorpion/Galant/Sapporo/etc can measure up the stock front shocks studs and let me know the distance?

Cheers!

^^ I'm 100% sure it's a Galant or Eterna from Japan, from the pics I saw of it, it looks identical to a jap spec model, has all the jap spec stuff like IRS, 4w vented brakes, and jap spec front on it. Lummy has confirmed it's a Galant A (A is the Lambda symbol), therefore it could have only originated from Japan as if it were from the UK it would be badged as a Sapporo, and it would have a different front end along with other whacky stuff as indicator/wiper stalk swapped around, UK specific chassis plate etc etc.

As I said, trust me I know the 4th gen Galant coupes inside out, back to front and upside down, nearly as much as I know about 5th and 6th gen Galants.

and Lummy sorry I completely forgot about measuring up my strut tops while I was out in the garage (the garage the car is stored in is 5-10 mins away from my house). I can tell you they are symmetrical though, cause I've swapped my strut tops around to increase negative camber on the front, I just ground off the locating pins.
