FS: JA Starion
I thought I'd get to post my pics in show and shine, but unfortunately, these pics have ended up here. My car is up for sale for $2600. I'm making quite a loss considering I've owned it for about 5 months and only driven it for maybe 1.5 months.
* 1982 JA Starion
* Import engine with 8.5:1 pistons, Aus spec cams.
* All new engine gaskets, head gasket, front main seal, balance shaft seals, valve stem seals, inlet + exh gaskets + turbo gasket. (No more oil leaks!)
* TC06. Replaced turbo exh. housing with one with no cracks. Standard boost. No smoke under boost.
* New cam belt, new alternator belt + PS belts.
* Re-trimmed seats, black velour
* New paint in white Acrylic. (Damn hard work)
* Rego until 18-09
* Almost no rust! Only slight rust on the lower edge inside the doors. There is none at all on the exterior panels.
The car is 100% standard trim as I have been restoring it back to factory spec before I was going to improve it. The engine runs very smooth now and it starts every time and is a reliable daily driver with no ill manners whatsoever. I've weeded out a lot of the problems - and there were a lot :roll:.
As with all Starions, there are some things that need fixing:
* Power steering pump leaks fluid.
* Needs a set of new tyres as the ones on them are low on tread.
* No stereo, but wiring + speakers are in place.
* Rear tailgate strut low on gas. Rear wiper not working.
* Rear right CV boot split.
* LH side of car still needs the paint rubbed back and polished - that's how new the paint is!! I can finish it, but I'm less willing to negotiate on price if I do the work - I've lost some motivation since buying the 2nd car.
* A/C idler pully missing, but I can supply a belt and there appears to be gas in the system still.
* Engine number details still need to be changed with the RTA, but you can have the original engine too (dismantled in boxes), so its not dodgy. I can sort out the paper work, but thought I'd put the ad up first. (The original engine had a big end bearing knock).
* Missing lower spoiler lip (Not a surprise for JA owners)
As you can see, I haven't held back with the things that I know are wrong. If you're interested, send me a PM or e-mail me at willl [at] geocities.com. Replace the [at] with '@'.
This is why I'm selling.

The seats are actually the widebody seats that were for sale a while back. A retrim normally costs around $800 for these seats as they are a bit unusual. I got them for less than that, however, without seat rails. I'll be sad to see the car go since I know every inch of it from working on it, but this is what works best for me right now.

$800 for retrimming the seats sounds about right. I've been quoted $770 to have some starion seats retrimmed in vinyl with velour inserts to suit my Scorp.

Steve E, I'll give you a buzz at lunch time or after work - the car is still for sale.
Hoongirl, I took the car (your old Staz) for a blast up old Pac Hwy last night. I like the suspension setup :D. It took the bends with ease even though I wasn't really pushing it. Hmm.. I think I just hijacked my own post... :o Oh well.
