I'm sure Merv was producing W5* to narrow block bell housings... and they weren't overly expensive. Ask JAS he knows him alot better and what he was doing, but i'm sure he was doing them for his rally starion which i thought had a narrow block motor in it....

Yeah he was looking at doing them but has not as yet. Last I spoke to him he was going to make something that fitted onto the front of the W5* boxes so it made it easier to bolt on any other belhousing. Like one from a 4G63 FWD belhousing. ok got offered a 3.9 diff from a guy at work
thinking of maybe swapping out my 4.3 i have in there
i know the deal - 3.9 higher top speed (lower cruising revs), 4.3 more acceleration
question is is the 3.9 guna make my car faster down the 1/4mile?
i guess its a matter of if the 3.9 reduces my wheel spin enough to make up for the lesser acceleration?

turns out its a 4.3 aswell but for 50 bucks i grabbed it anyways and ill sell my lsd to help pay for some cams and cam gears
um rice id say im doing about 3500 at 100ks (not sure as my speedo isnt 100% correct)
not terrible but not great, highway drving is the last of my worries, going fast is the first :beer
the one problem i do ave with it is 1st gear is basically no existent, take off give it some berrys and shes all spin and then its hitting limiter as fast as you can grab second almost, so i dont really go anywhere, hence why i was liking the thought of a 3.9

That is why from page 1, I asked what is a 4.3 doing in such a torquey light car. Leave that for the gutless high revving normally aspirated hondas. They need it.
This VR4 powered lancer should go low 11s on slicks with an unopened motor.
Our quickest 2.6 starquests all run stock 3.54, right down to the 10.4 street car.

got my 60fts down to 2.0 which is the best they have been
but only running low 14s at around 100mph
couldnt get within .5 of my best et
wat ratio would you suggest?
try and find a 3.9?

Soljah, i think the issue you have is that you have such short gearing for such a responsive turbo, hence why traction is such as issue, especially with such a lightweight car.
As for the best gearing see what gear you are in and at what revs when you cross the line, then compare that to what the guys in the states are doing with the 3.55 gears. Also what tyres are you using, tyres are one of the biggest factors in any racing whether is drag or circuit.
Only reason why i picked the 4.2 gears is i wanted extra drive out of corners as most of the tracks i go to or plan to go to have short straights.
