ZOOM caried out testing with fuel with ethanol in it ( cant remember the percentage )and got a good improvment after tuning as it required more fuel to get the af ratios right .They did b4 & after tests4gpwr wrote:I have been playing with E85 fuel over the last few weeks with some very impressive results .

what would you have to change to be able to use ethanol based fuel in a starion? can you use the E10 that's sold at pumps these days?
I don't know much (anything) about it, but i've been told that you need different hoses, as ethanol will corrode normal rubber hoses..?

I read the same ZOOM article as Oldie - E85 is a 'cooler' fuel and thus increases the detonation threshold hence allows you to run more ignition advance. The jist iof it all is you need to increase your fuel flow by anywhere between 25 and 30% so pump, lines and injectors all need to be capable of handling that extra flow. Do that and there is some impressive scope for tuning. I am looking into it for the track car. Gotta be better than 98 Premium and hard to get 100 octane and the no longer available Vplus racing.

E85 is also corrosive and eats rubber fuel lines over time. May not be an issue with newer cars but on ours it could be a concern. Also may eat your fuel pump innards out.
But after reading the article in Zoom I was fairly impressed. They got great gains....but use a fair amount more fuel. Great for the track!

98 Octane Premium ULP has a limited shelf life. Does E85 suffer the same problem ? Before any event, I drain all the old fuel, & put it in my wifes car, then fill my car with fresh new fuel. You can feel the difference.
