Wheel Offset Guide

Post by TOMSUN »

Just trying to summarise peoples experiences with Wheel Offset onto a single post.

********** NARROWBODY SPECS ***********************

Stock Starion (JA): 14x6.5 +18 (195/70/14)
Stock Starion (JB): 15x6.5 +18 (215/60/15)

19's

Mick:
-ROH Modena
Tomsun,

19s fit with coilovers and if really low will need 1.5" guard pump each back side.

215/30/19 on 8.5" rim +12 front
245/25/19 on 10" rim +12 rear

Comments: With stretched tyres and approx 2 inches of pumping, rolling and cutting the rear wheels just fit. Fronts need rolled guards to lower and are close to coil over adjusters but clear by about 4mm. D2's may be different though.

18's

KIT:
FRONT: 18X8.5 +12mm offset.Tyres 225/40/18
REAR: 18X10 +12 offset. Tyres 265/35/18
Guards are rolled
http://forums.austarion.com/viewtopic.php?t=6438

TomVR4
FRONT: 18x8.5 +29 with 25mm spacer = +4mm offset adjusted. 235 tyres.
REAR: 18x8.5 +29 with 8mm spacer? = +21 offset adjusted. 235 tyres.
Note: The front right just scrapes on the guard every now and again on full lock.

silo: (work meister S1's)
FRONT: 18x10 +18. Tyres 245/40/18
REAR: 18x11 -7. Tyres 295/30/18
NOTE: Running big flairs

Front:
Tyres: 245/35/18
Spacers: 25mm (to get off the strut) coilovers
Wheel: 18x10 15+ offset (make a -10 offset when combined with spacer)

Rear:
Tyres: 255/35/18
Spacers: 15mm (need more)
Wheel: 18x10 15+ offset (make a 0 offset when combined with spacer)
Has a nice small stretch look so prefect for this application. Got some rub on a big bump in the road
Rolled guards all round

17's

FST4RD:
FRONT: 17x8 with a 0 offset. 215's no rubbing
REAR: 17x8 with a 0 offset. 235's. no rubbing

kiwi_EX:
FRONT: 17x8 with a 0 offset. 235/45/17
REAR: 17x8 with a 0 offset.
The 235/45's fit under the front guards ok and no touching on the inside when at full lock, just catch ever so slightly on the inside edge at the bottom of the front guard when turning. Probably only catching by 5mm.

redzone: Orange JA.
FRONT: 17X9 0mm offset. 225/45/17 fit fine. Note: 2 degrees neg camber.
REAR: 17X9 0mm offset. 225/45/17.

NachoMan: GSR-V. (5 stud) Current.
FRONT: 17x8 +5 offset. 235/45/17. Fine
REAR: 17x8 +5 offset. 235/45/17. Fine

jedi: Dtm drift pics below
FRONT: 17x9 +15 with 5mm spacer = +10 offset. Tyres 235.
REAR: 17x10 +12. Tyres 255.

TOMSUN: (D2 Coilovers)
Set 1 (Zenki Drift Wheels)
http://forums.austarion.com/viewtopic.php?t=12168
FRONT: 17x8 +15 offset. Tyres 225/45/17. (235/45/17's DO NOT FIT. THEY TOUCHED THE STANDARD SPRING PERCH.) Tyre just touch on the 225's with D2 Coilovers. Going to try a 5mm spacer or a 215/45/17 tyre.
REAR: 17x9 +15 offset. Tyres 255/40/17. Fit nice with standard suspension and D2's

TOMSUN: Set 2 (WedsSport DP-V7's - 3 Piece)
FRONT: 17x7.5 +16 offset. Tyres 225/45/17. Would clear stock suspension but will probably touch spring
REAR: 17x8.5 +16 offset. Tyres 235/40/17.

TOMSUN: Set 3 (Veilside Andrew Copies)--- SOLD TO www.18u
FRONT: 17x7 +20 offset. Tyres 225/45/17.
REAR: 17x7 +20 offset. Tyres 225/45/17.

TOMSUN: Set 4 (Mesh)---Fronts fit nice. Rears needs lips rolled and inner tubs to be "massaged", a +6 on the rears would have been "smarter" :)
FRONT: 17x9 -12 offset. Tyres 225/45/17.
REAR: 17x10 +0 offset. Tyres 255/40/17.

dr death
rota RB 17X8.5 +4's on his JB they fit nicely

enthuzed
FRONT: 16x7 +20. With 225/50/16 tyres.
REAR: 16x7 +20. Also 225/50/16 tyres.
Heaps of room for the rears, but there's only about 6mm between either the weld on the leg for the spring retainer or between the corner of the tyre and lowest outer edge of the spring retainer. Note, this is a standard strut.

15's

Prozac (D2 Coilovers)
FRONT: 15x9, ET0. 225/55/15 (Need to be spaced out 5mm to clear spring. Running 15mm spacer)
FRONT: 15x9, ET0. 225/55/15 (Running 25mm spacer to match front not to clear springs)
Guards rolled front and back

I'd like to add, i've fitted 16x7 with a +24 offset and 225/50 tyres and they just clear the strut with lowered king springs.

I've got 18's x 8.5 with 235 tyres all round. they are +29 offset with a 25mm spacer on the front and a 10 or 8mm spacer on the rear. so +4mm offset on the front. The front right just scrapes on the gaurd every now and again on full lock, (front right is slightly lower than front left.. :wtf: ). Does kit run coil overs or just standard struts? As I didn't think that I had much room left with the standard struts.

they're factory adjustable platform struts that have even less room than the original setup... orig size springs.

My GSR-V ran 17x7.5's all round with an offset of +3 a little while ago.
Now she has 17x8's all round with an offset of +5
Tyre size is 235/45/17 all round
It's 5 stud though, but that shouldn't make too much difference...

guys, we should probably keep references to wheels that need spacers out of this thread, otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of the thread..

No it wont because offset by itself isnt the only indicator of whether the wheels will fit. Because those rims you listed are 9 inch wide, with an offset of 17 + gives a backspace of 131, which wont fit on the front of a starion without hitting the struts.
