the black bonnet look is because unpainted cf comes out black and looks pretty cool with the weave and all so they leave it black, so ofcourse people who want to copy this just paint the bonnet black. Im not sure on the whole reflection thing, most cars you cant even see the bonnet and if the sun was at that lower angle it would be in your eyes directly anyway.

anyway

i will be looking into making some fibreglass parts later, and if your so inclinded, once the mould is made, it will be easy (and about 3x as expensive) to do it in cf if needed.

Black bonnet?
Been there, done that. The bonnet was from my JB. It looked ok on my red JA, however my red JA bonnet looked like crap on my Black JB!

I liked the look in the ol' red MkII escort RS2000's, but i'm not sure about starions..
but, you should do what you like, so check out a photoshopped one with a black bonnet, and if you like it, go for it

re the matt black bonnet, we all used to paint the bonnets of our rally cars matt black. it did help reduce glare, but was mainly to help reduce reflections at night.
you get some weird effects in the scrub at night, hehe.

Geez i remember back in the days i used to paint all my matchbox cars matt black so that when i was playing out side i didn't cop the reflection in the eye, but at night they caused a problem for mum as she used to fly across the ground when slipping on an invisible object lol anyways i am not serious but.... I will say this though,

If you want a black bonnet make sure you paint the bonnet line all the way across even over the top of the headlight covers that way it is square and might look decent... but personally if i had a carbon fibre bonnet i would get it painted the same colour as the rest of the car cause geez i mean it is carbon fibre not a latest barbie fashion accessory.

And in a year it will be an outdated look and everyone will be painting them to keep a smooth sheek look as the starion still has :)

PHOTOSHOP TIME

Borrowed a picture of Abalistics beautiful perfect condition Starion (thumbs up man!!!) and lowered it, and put a black bonnet on so you guys can get an idea of the look.

Red + Black=I really don't think its a good idea
White + Black and lowered isnt too bad, definately a drifter look combined with the lowered car.

Can do other cars quickly, only takes 5 mins, just PM me.

I urge everyone to paint their bonnets black. I enjoy having a good laugh whilst driving around.
