Dunno, I like the farm country in Central Western NSW, plenty of dirt backroads to get your rally on

hey thanks of all the info i was thinking up north i have been to melbourne but only for a week and dont remember much except i froze my butt off so there is alot of mining going on up there anyone know what kind of mining i worked at a copper mine here in arizona for a while and anyone know how much of a pain it is to import US cars i know that yours are right hand drive and ours are left hand drive does that cause any problems. again thanks for all the help all i need now is a job and any paper work to migrate

Yes Mackay gets Jellyfish, but everywhere coastal does during the season.
Staying in the warmer waters is alright but (jellyfish seem to like the colder water).

Jobs are easy to find here, Seems to be more jobs then people here. If you have a trade or qualification even better. Hour and half drive to Airlie Beach which is the doorstep to the whitsendays/Great barrier reef.
Mines are all within driving distance of Mackay, so alot of fabrication/engineering work to be done in Mackay itself.

Flights are cheap within Australia. Can usually grab a flight to Brisbane for under $100

my starions are both 2.6l so i guess finding parts would not be too easy there (not that its any better here) i own half the starions in tucson and i only have 5 (3 are parts cars)

We had the 2.6 motors in a large range of other cars,
Sigma, Scorpion, Triton, Forklifts, Magna, etc
Parts shouldnt be a problem.

I live in Mackay, Im the only Starion owner left online here. Theres a few Starion guys in Townsville. the drive from Mackay - Townsville is only 4 hours so they are close.

Townsville is a nice place, i nearly moved there, But the big dollars are in Mackay.

wrenchman, importing your cars would be about $3000AUD each to brisbane. would have to be converted to RHD to get registration (30 years and older are exempt though) but u can use local starion parts for the conversions which is relatively easy as far as laft to right conversions go.

we have quite a few DOHC 4G63's here in galants evo's etc, and jap importers bring them over too. i own a 1988 2.6 widebody starion, a jap import. 2.6 parts are no drama for most things.
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

I disagree.
But it's down to the individual I guess.
My advice is to see the places for yourself, and then make your mind up.
I'd be happy to buy you a beer if you ever came to Perth :) :beer

Of course!
If ANY Starion driver came to Perth, I'd buy them a beer. It doesn't matter how far you've had to come to get here...
In fact the further you've come, the bigger the beer! :beer

so i have started the process of applying for a work visa to move there what would be a good salary range to look for to not be broke all the time and be able to afford to work on my starions. I am either going to be looking for work as a mechanic or an equipment operator in the mining industry because that is what i was doing here until recently. i hope to be able to hang out with all you starion guys in queensland very soon but not looking forward to the 23 days on a cargo ship with nothing to do thanks again for all the advice
