haha.. i was gonna say something earlier about putting something in the rules for it to be the fastest RELIABLE street driven starion..JJH wrote:Might just have to get my mate to build a, one run, hand grenade rofl

the way i see it, every city has more than one staz owner.. so why don't you make it so that any runs made for the trophy should be done in front of at least 2 or 3 witnesses from the forum? The witnesses can inspect the cars before or after then runs for scrutineering, and they can also video the actual runs :beerzippo wrote:so i take it this will be done a trust basis???
pump fuel ??? methanol injection will pump it to 110 octaine , is this ok ???
who will know if some one chooses c16 ? or avgas ???
slicks????????? , my ecu is enabled to run a 2 step and this may give the idea to some that i use slicks , based on the 60ft time ...
hopefully some good times get put down and this may open the door for the staz to others . if mine is done im in , but im fairly slack and lazy
I won't be running my car in the comp since i have more pressing money matters that will severly limit my budget.. but i'm willing to be a witness if it's at eastern creek :D

I am happy to run by the proposed regs but if we are trying to find the quickest why not let everyone do what they like (no NOS) and use what ever fuel tyres etc they like so the fastest time can be realised? I would run octane booster and run it fully road registered where as some one might build a strip monster and do the Starion image a heap of good. You could have an open class and road registered (this class would only allow modifications and fuel etc which you can run on the street, including tyres). Just a different idea.

Theres no point having an open class and a street class as it will only complicate matters and there isnt enough members to warrent it.
The reason why i suggested street registered tyre is thats how the japs do it when they drag race and time attack. Pump fuel to keep it in the spirt of things being that is what we drive on when we take out our starions.
As a trust basis, it wouldnt hurt to video your car on the day and video your run.

I like the idea of someone building a strip monster. I think if there was an open class, there would probably only be maximum 1 person in it.
I was going to film my run anyway. Gotta have footage :) I like the idea of footage because it proves it better then a slip. I could go and get a slip out of the box from anyone's run.
I am more then happy to go with other guys for the runs. But I dont think it should be a rule, as what if you start trying to get good times from tomorrow? Kind of hard to get us out each weekend for your runs. :beer

okey dokey...
a staz is a staz , regrdless , stripped out , gutted , full street trim .
at the end of the day its the fastest car that should win .
its all about exposure for the car that has been forgotten to others .
i have my eye on a parts car that is fairly complete , less motor and box , my little brother is a rotary nut , my 2 questions are
1 will the rotor qualify?
2 what power will the rear end hold , i plan on locking the diff (welded special) will the shafts hold >> transfering the motor and box will be simple , re locating his micro tech and fuel set up will also be fairly easy , a bit of pipe work and some extra fuel lines solid mount the motor and chop up the t/shaft , i reckon i can get out of for less than 1k , he has alot of bits laying around , but if the diff needs to done to a live set up , thats not worth the effort or money . just for some fun.
a once off laugh would be good value .....
you know a 13b with a t04z running 30 psi is good for 500hp , and the weight behind a staz is not to bad , i would rather that weight than his little rx , his little buzz box has never seen more than 20 psi , toooooooo damm skatey due to the size , he built an absolute killer that will crack an 8 but is not game enough to turn it up ....
shame the beast is no longer streetable , it just sits there , and he says i have a 10 sec car , i can run eights if i want too .
thats the problem with little rotors , they make insane power but you cant get it to the ground .
sorry i babbled on .
so will the diff last ??????????????????

Well Well, How about I throw my 010/350 small block in
with a pair of super thumpers and T400, quarter clip
over 4link cradle, ADD C13+meth and run a few mid to low
8`s then tell you guys it was with an rb26det on pump.
who`s gonna know (other than me)(the win would be hollow thou)
This doesnt seem to inspire those with a smaller budget.
Cheers:Phil.

TORQUES-CHEAP.
getting drag timeslips these days don't really get that much attention..
drift is the word.. even though i think it's a shit sport.. a heap of fun, sure, but a sport?? come on..
for starters, doesn't it ever bother these guys that the scoring is done in much the same way as ballet or gymnastics??
but anyway.. if it's publicity you want for the staz, start up a drift team like they've done in china.. put a good drifter behind the wheel and win some races..
i've learnt the hard way that despite the car being grippy in normal conditions, it'll easily slide out with bald tyres.. even in the dry.. very controllable though..
mine seems to enjoy sliding out more when i have 2 girls in the back :beer

Holy crap, someone comes up with a neat idea then people want to mend the rules to suit themselves.
2 cents on the table - here's a suggestion.
"KISS" - you own a Staz, run a time down your local dragstrip then post the damn slip up on the forum. Car must be street registered, no slicks for the run. Done, dusted.
Didnt this come about from a friendly rib poke in the first place - it aint going to make any magazine cover, so keep it just for Austarion bragging rights hey
Cheers

Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.
