Which is a much better way of mounting them. Gives shorter piping.

Who askes the yanks? Besides there isn't anything wrong with asking too many people their opinions. Unless they are Roger :beer

Want to mount it down in the front bar for maximum airflow, and unfortunately it wont fit there, the airflow is too impeded for my liking mounted upside down

Hey if you dont mind massaging your front rails you could fit a intercooler that size as you want to mount it low.
Starions are a disease, the only cure is poverty.

There are pros and cons for evey mounting position , an intercooler is basicly a heat sink , biger intercoolers are more lagy , but are going to take longer to heat up , even if a intercooler is mounted in direct air flow once it has heated up it would take quite a few min at highway speeds to remove the heat . I would tell you to keep it stealth , stuff the biggest core you can fit , and keep your intake pipe away from anything that would cause it to grab heat , like running it over the turbo .

Yep your right there are pros and cons for all positions. As the car is a track car running a twincam 4g63 with a 20g turbo i dont think theres gonna be a whole lot of difference between using this one or a 500x300 one. And the piping will be as short as possible and well shielded from all heat too :)

If you don't know Roger then you should consider yourself lucky. Although he is great for a laugh, you would soon be finding yourself wanting to find, and kill him rofl

Yeah with the Piping I would keep the pipe size to 2.5" if it was a long cooler. Try and help minimise the lag gained from the larger cooler.

pipes

Post by 4gpwr »

I would run the hot side of the cooler pipe the same size as the turbo outlet up to the cooler , then on the other side the pipe the same as the throttle body , heard talk about some sort of expansion and reducution of a pipe size to increase air speed , even saw some weird pipe work on a wrc car , it went from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 or bigger back down to 2 1/2 . Thought about runing the intercooler , intake pipe with dougnut bends in a sealed box filled with dry ice to see if it will pull heat from the intake charge and how affective.

Yep have seen increasing pipe diameter before. Am pretty set on 2.5" as this will give minimal lag, but still flow enough to hit some decent numbers.
Like the sound of dry ice box, think that would probably be quite effective.
