it varies, you can usually get a tidy flatbody 2L import GSR for about NZ$3000 (1000 pounds) or a nice NZ-new (same as a Euro spec flatbody) 2L with leather, LSD, mph speedo etc for $5000. As for widebodies, the only running condition one I have seen for sale was for $16000, but it had been completely stripped down and restored to pristine condition. It was an import from the UK, an '88 2L model. I recently lost out on a widebody going for sale with the engine out in the boot in pieces, no rego plates and a bit of rust in the radiator support panel - I was leading the bidding at $2000 but in the last seconds it esculated up to $3200!
You could probably import a widebody from Japan (as long as it's over 20 years old) for approx $10-15k, that is if you can find one for sale in Japan.
It's not that I couldn't really afford one, it's just this came up and it's probably alot rarer than a Starion (I like quirky things) but has all the same Starion running gear in it. I got it for $1600.

yeah it's called heaps of different things all over the world.
In Oz it's either a Chrysler or Mitsubishi Scorpion, in NZ it was either a Galant Lambda (early models) or Sapporo (late models), in the UK and Europe it was a Colt Sapporo, in Japan it was the Galant A or Eterna A (A being the lambda symbol), in the States it can be a Dodge Challenger II, Plymouth Sapporo.
www.msapporo.com has more info on each model

Cool car - looks like its coming along nicely
I had one a few years back - cant remember if it was badged Sapporo or Eterna now but it was a 1980, Jap import GSR turbo - Black with the red stripes exactly the same as the one on the front page of www.msapporo.com. Very cool - loved the pillarless windows and the look of the twin headlight model. That car is a big part of why I own a starion now.
Wish I had never sold it . . . .

Yes it had, think Zac rebuilt the engine and got it running sweetly again until someone else bought it off him and free boosted it and either blew a piston or a head gasket. They bought some pistons off me recently but I think it's just sitting around for the meantime.JayME wrote:
It didnt happen to run a bearing did it?
There is another gold one here in Christchurch but is currently parked up until Brad finds a few parts for it.

There's also another white one in the south island somewhere with some euro-mesh style 15" wheels, guy wanted something like $2500 for it at the time. Was a Galant GT facelift model.
What parts is that guy needing Junkers?

a quick update
replaced the boots and cleaned up the half-shafts and fitted them along with diff back into subframe, painted up the prop shaft too:
and put the subframe back in:
a powdercoated rocker cover arrived:
front end has had a paint up and bushes replaced too:
and a quick sneak peak at the struts - the original spring perches have been cut off and the rear struts have been opened up and will be shortened to suit SW20 MR2 rear inserts:

Ok with huge thanks to wayne (vvega) the coilovers are together and now fitted
At the current setting it sits with the tyres (factory 195/70 balloons) even with the tops of the guards, and about 70mm ground clearance to the front crossmember. It still has a further inch lower it can go, or two inches higher. I can take out the keeper springs for a further 40mm drop.
More pics to come later
