Eastern Creek 10 August 2008
I'm entered for the State Supersprint round this Sunday at Eastern Creek.
If anyone wants to wander along and have a look at the BCFH and these types of events please do so - I will be in Garage 21.

Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.
Well JJH you wanted pics - here's one LOL .
A blown out power steering hose (blew the hard line clean out the nut on the pump) did this - sprayed fluid over red hot turbo and manifold. The result oil fire and smoke was spectacular. No real harm down - foam makes it looks worse but a cabin full of smoke and billowing out the back and under the bonnet at turn 1 is interesting. :o
I am now going manual steering box- I'm over the power steering gremlins in this car.

Doh! Not the kind of pic I was after; please tell me it didn't happen on your first run and that your day was buggered before it began.
I've had my manual steering box in for a few months now and on the track it is fine; it needs a little tuning to remove the play.
Can be a bit heavy at very low speeds but I don't take it there that often.
I haven't done any autocross with it yet, so I'm a little concerned it might be a little heavy for that kind of stuff.
Touch wood, I haven't had anything major eff-up on me at a meeting yet.

2nd lap - first session. $180 entry fee for 1 and half laps LOL
Edit - just checked Natsoft, how funny is that. That one lap netted a 2:00 lap time - I was off the gas past the timing marker and hadnt even got up to proper speed before then. My previous best before turbo and intercooler change was 2:00 also.
Jeff, will pm you, need to talk through the manual box conversion for tips and traps. :beer
Edit - found the cause, the hard line had fractured previously and the lip of the old flare was still under the nut wedged in. Took the nut out tonight and there were 2 remnants of flare stuck to the nut. The old one must have been cutting the new line. Will get it reflared and give it another go and if still probs then manual box will go in.
