very nice rim. I personally prefer the Simmons style. Guess it is because I was bought up with them. They were and still are I believe the 'top' wheel available. The rim of choice by professional and amateur race car drivers for yonks. There construction and materials are second to none. The outside lip of rim is 'quality' and they are unique. Most 'bling' rims with dish have the large curved outer lip which I think cheapens the look. Just my opinion and with so many young guys on here I would imagine they don't know the history behind Simmons wheels. The last Starion at Bathurst raced with the three piece Simmons wheel as well.
All relative in the wheel dibate but still
way back in my monaro days,
Gee I think they were called V5 rims
that I had back in 1980-87, they just
kept jumping from car to car,(till there were 3)
and the lip thing "your right" All wheels now
have the "BLING" lip. Not a lot can be done about that
with the exception of throwing more money at rims.
I hope I can get the right rims for around
$2600.00 because thats all I have for wheels/tyres ATM
Oh and Im thinking THATS TO MUCH ALREADY.

I studied and researched a very long time in order to get those rims that I had on redzone's white widey. They ended up being just about perfect...believe it or not...I bought them only seeing pics from Japan while the black car (groupAralliart's black widey) was stored in Japan and never actually physically measured anything.
These wheels now fit perfecly under Shannon's blue widey.
I did collate an exhaustive list of info regarding all manner of wheels sizes, offsets and back/frontspacing. Unfortunately, all that info was lost when my PC died.
And yes, we better get pics, Steve.

Change of plan again!
I will ring first thing Monday and change the fronts: after researching further and talking with a few blokes who know tyres and rims I realise that the tyre size I need for the fronts will need to be 9" wide rim to 'sit' properly and not squirm on the turn in.
On the 10" rears I will use 285/30/18 which is perfect for a 10" rim and gives the OD of 629mm, some 3mm under factory OD (not a problem).
The front tyre I am looking to use is a 255/35/18 which provides a 635mm OD, 3mm larger in OD than std (not noticeable). Using the next std fitting size tyre down: a 245/40/18 blows the OD out to 653 and a 225 is too narrow.
So now you might understand the predicament I am in with firstly rim size and then matching tyre width and OD (overall rolling diameter).
Even though it is a bit of a risk I am going to order the front rims as a 18"x9" with a +15mm offset - any advise, get back here before Monday morning! Worst case scenario is I have to get the front rims remanufactured!!

get em as a plus 10 at most, negative camber will give u more guard clearance at the outside
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Yes, I understand the neg camber and change to guard. I have set my adjustable strut tops to what looks to be a very similar setting to std strut top. I am not sure how many deg that is and how much more I would put on it for track/stret use. I agree with the +10 offset so will go that way. As I said before the worst case scenario is put new outers on the fronts to fix any problems - however expensive and a waste of time. Oh well, cross your fingers for me guys!
I beleave back in the day camber was 1.5-2.0, deg neg
and caster was 1.2-1.6 and .05-1.5 mmm toe-in for street ????
but on circut/rally Ive had as much as 8-12 neg cam, 4-6 cas
with 2mm toe out (hell yes it was a nervous car)(bump steer LOL)
and back then I used to press bend the diff case to get
1.5-2.0 neg camber out back, ever see what happens to bearings
when they have that nuch pressure on them ????
It seems this wheel thing will not end if all the settings arent
covered first, good luck to all.
Cheers:Phil.
